Yup yup... yours truly got to pimp it in the Press Box at last night's FCD game. Wanna know how it was? It was F*CKING SWEET! Yea... it was AWESOME. I was terrified at first, but once I got up there and got acclamated it was all good. I was the only girl... that... was odd. You know how guys feel towards females who cover sports! If you make even the slightest mistake all of a sudden you're the dumb ditz on the sideline who gets paid to look pretty. I'm REALLY overanalyzing this... hmm...
But yea I sat up there with Ed from 3rddegree, and we talked and laughed and he answered all of my dumbass questions and comments. It was my first time to experience an FCD game without The Inferno, and although that was sad I knew I would've kicked myself if I'd given up the chance to cover quite possibly the most important game of the season. They sounded great, too, every chant came through loud and clear.
FCD WON, most importantly, 1-0 when Ronnie O scored in like- the 20th minute. Screw the goal- the celebration was the best part. He scores and runs over to the other team's supporters and bows in front of them. Funniest thing I've seen in a while. Ronnie cracks me up.
Best part of the night, by far, and you all know what is coming but you all know you want to read! Ed & I head down to the tunnel to get our quotes and what-not so we go into the tunnel where the guys run out from (Travis knows this tunnel very well because he fell in it- or like- a hole in it or something) and Richard Mulrooney & Ramon are sitting on golf-cart. Richard sees me- smiles and gives me a real quiet "hey," but Ramon gives me the dirtiest look ever! Its okay, Ramon, I don't like you either! He probably read my report from the New England game, you know, the one where I put every single one of his mistakes in my report? Not my fault Ramon's an ass. Ooo yea- I went there. ;-)
That's not the best part of the night- I lied. Ed & I get up to the trailer and we get quotes from Ronnie and Colin (the Coach) and I chase after Simo to ask him a quick question. WELL... while I'm talking to Simo I hear Harlan (The Inferno parked outside the trailer to congratulate the guys on the win) yell, "GOOD JOB GETTING IN DEMA'S FACE ON SATURDAY!" Of course, at this point I completely tuned out Simo and in my head thought, "Okay THAT is Drew and I DEFINITELY need to wrap this sucker up."
Spent the next few seconds blankly nodding my head going, "Mmhmm... uh-huh... yea thats cool..." when I finally hear the ENTIRE Inferno yell: "CALL GINA! CALL HER!! SHE'S RIGHT THERE! TALK TO HER, CALL HER!!!"
At this point Simo realizes that I'm Gina and they're yelling at me- so he pats me on the shoulder and goes. I think I saw Drew turn to The Inferno and go, "Where is she?"
So I find Drew and am already blushing profusely. I'm pretty sure I matched the color of my shirt.
Okay this is the best part. Ready? Ready for it? Are you sure?
He sees me and I'm like, "Hey- I'm so sorry about them. Can't control them..."
Drew laughs and goes, "Ooo its okay, how are you?" At this point, HE HUGS ME! Yea- he went in for it. It was a one-armed side hug, but he joins the ranks among the good huggers of the world. *sigh* yea... oddly enough at this point I could've sworn I heard The Inferno cheer really loud. Hahaha... it was fantastic.
So Drew & I talked about a minute or two more and I asked him about what happened on Saturday when he got in Dema's face. He played it off and was like, "Ooo- I had to have Ronnie's back. I knew there was history there- Ronnie is my boy!" So then I told him how while everybody was freaking about what Dema did- I was the one going, "Did you see Drew? That was AWESOME!" He laughed- had that HUGE smile the entire time we talked. I LOVE that smile- its natural but its such a model smile! So finally... we wrap it up and I'll just give you the dialogue.
"Alright- I'll let you go. I'm sorry about the phone number thing..."
"Yea- I've got a few copies of that now."
"I'm so sorry!"
"It's okay! I'll see you Sunday. See ya, Gina!"
"Bye, Drew!"
He knows my name! He knows. My name! In the words of Brick from Anchorman, FANTASTIC! Wow- that definitely made my season. If that didn't make my season than Bobby calling me after the Salt Lake game did. Wow. Yea.
So after that I met up with The Inferno and of course The Posse were the first ones to find me, bouncing around me going, "What happened? What happened? WHAT HAPPENED??!?!?" Hahaha... I <33 my girls to death. Told 'em I'd tell 'em later- I wanted to squeal but not around Bobby & Bevan. I ended up telling Bevan- and she laughed pretty hard.
Blah blah blah... cut to us talking to Bobby when out of nowhere we hear:
"I WAS FUCKING SIXTEEN! EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU COME TO ONE OF THESE GAMES YOU TRY TO FUCKING EMBARRASS ME! I WAS FUCKING SIXTEEN!"
Yea. FCD's resident whiny bitch, Eddie Johnson. He was screaming at this guy in a pink shirt... I don't know. Apparently, this guy in the pink shirt is Bobby's agent. He's Bobby's, Ronnie's, Simo's and a bunch of other guys on the team and theres some bad blood or something but seriously... scene control, EJ? We were all standing there, Bobby was looking at us and we were looking at him and we were all like, "Hmm... soooo..." Good times.
Headed back to the tailgate- I squealed and jumped around and told everybody I could that I'd gotten a Drew Moor hug and then some of us headed out to the field and sat around just talking. Ended the night at IHOP which is always fun and I didn't get home until 12:30-12:45ish. All in all a pretty fantabulous night. And I thought it was going to suck... silly Gina.
The best picture ever...
EDIT: I most definitely f*cked with the lighting on that pic cause it was really dark. If its screwed up for you let me know and I'll show you the regular one. A HUGE thank you going out to The Posse (Amy, Hanna, Amanda, Kearby & Mego) for FOREVER immortalizing that moment!
Don't forget the laptop crashed- so I have no way of uploading pics right now. Uggh- tech support told me to wait a few days before trying to install anything new. Those f*ckers. I spent THREE more hours today with them trying to set everything back up, and then about an hour ago it blue-screened on me again. Sooo... I call back? If I call them again I hit my tenth call. I was sitting there and the guy goes, "Wow- I'm reading back on your record now. One, two, three, four..." So hopefully I can get my pics up soon.
Amanda has hers up if you want to look. Hanna took one of me kissing the Brimstone Cup... hope thats a cute one.
Alrighty- I think I'm done. School 2mrw followed by Co-Ed at 8:45. Here's to our second win and me not falling on my head! WOOT! Sleep well, kids.
