Well haven't I missed a lot of days.
It's definitely homecoming week now, and I'm enjoying it. Not only is it cold, but I've also been dressing for the occassion. How often does that happen?
I've also been helping out on the Senior Wall (which maybe I've mentioned?), from last Thursday onwards we've been really trucking. Thursday in particular was a nice day since we had a nice big discussion about religion and so on while we painted. I finally contronted Daniel/Ryan about their liberal use of the world "hell", which I've been meaning to say something about for...what, three years now?
The weekend worked out well, though I was more than a little stressed over the various projects that must be done and the costumes I'd wear the following week. Saturday morning (after MST3k) I went up to the school and worked on the wall for about six hours, and during that time many people came and went. Around 6 my head was hurting badly enough that I wouldn't have been useful for much longer, so I asked Mandy if she'd give me a ride home. She had some other stuff to do, so I gladly accompanied her. We had a great time, drove around to varioius places looking for suitable homecoming costumes. Those were Party City and the mall, namely. We took a nice picture of the sunset as we were leaving the mall.
On the way back Mandy got a sudden craving for a milkshake, so our first impulse was to stop at the Marble Slab Creamery on Airport, which turned out to be ridiculously full of people, to the point where we had to take a number. Interestingly, I saw Stephanie from the old class there. Apparantly that particular MSC is owned by the Martinez family, which brings up some more questions.
So after that failure we went to TCBY. That was a lot less crazy.
Ah, I forgot to mention the hilarious Geyser Accident. During the wall-working-on segment of the day, someone apparantly jumped the fence into the football field zone, landing on a water faucet and breaking it. The breakage resulted in a gusher of about fifteen feet in height, which made for some great pictures and a lot of confused faces.
Sunday I ran off to the fleamarket, drooled over Toby's expensive Transformers some more, and got a new MTMTE issue. Chris got a huge stack of comics, as usual, but there wasn't time to go over to his house afterwards.
Yesterday was 'blast from the past' day. The paper said "Dress like the 50s, 60s, and 70s", but I scoffed at that. I got a suit jacket and pants, a vest, my dad's bowler hat, and a pocket watch--presto, instant turn of the century. Some people thought I was amish and one though I was Abraham Lincoln, but I think most knew what I was. All my friends thought/wanted that I would win, but four other people did and I got honorable mention. I don't even remember who the four winners were, I was too nervous that they were going to call my name. They did and I had to walk down there, which took longer than the rest of the runners-up since I was close to the top. Doh.
Today was an easier costume, it was career day. I got some tattered jeans and a jean jacket, my work boots and a shovel. Gravedigger! I was surprised, around six people or so actually realized what I was. Most who recognized it thought it was brilliant, but I didn't get any "official" recognition. That's okay, I really didn't want to have to walk down the bleachers again.
Everyone wanted to look at the shovel and the hat, both of which I had to be careful with. The hat was apparantly old and authentic (1912); and the shovel was dangerous. I was surprised that nobody really said anything about it. Mr. Wasden did charge me to be careful with it, but that's all. Fascinating.
Being without the Krones this afternoon, I asked Meghan for a ride home...she didn't really seem to like that, so I got a ride with Cassie's mom instead. I had to stay after with Daniel and her for math lab, but it's OK. We had a good time.
For a homecoming week I sure do have a lot of work to do. History Project, research paper, prologue. Fun.
I need to get drawing some more, huh. Aegh.
