Summary: There has always been the discussions of parallel dimensions throughout the centuries. Do they really exist? What would they be like? What would happen if their world crossed with ours? It has been a question that was never really answered until now. There are many parallel dimensions in the universe and planet Earth contains one. It's a waste land, filled with all kinds of mythical creatures now told in bedtime stories, fairytales and scary camp fire stories. They used to walk the Earth, unnoticed by the humans, but noticed by another race. They are called the Ancients, a race similar to vampires only alive. They drink human blood and are immortal but they can go into sunlight and they are not affected by the church or holy water the way vampires are. Vampires are creatures of night, the Ancients are creatures of light, and when they locked all the creatures in the waste land they did it for the sake of the humans and their own race. The creatures of the other dimension had been getting restless, annoyed by the humans. They did things to trick them, hurt them, kill them. Unexplained occurrences happened and that was when the Ancients decided to create their new home. A veil had been produced seperating the two worlds, and the creatures were forbidden to ever cross into the human realm. The Ancients thought the veil would last for eternity, and their problem was taken care of. Now the humans were flourishing as the Ancients were, who were civilized enough to live among them peacefully. However the Ancients were wrong. The veil didn't last very long, and now it's fading away. The parallel world creatures are starting to find holes in it and are able to slip into the human world, determined to make it their own once again.
There's only one hope left. For years, while the veil slowly disappeared, the Ancients' three princes have been searching the human race for the one with the sight. The sight to see the parallel monsters and the veil itself. It is said that that human would be able to stop the monsters from coming out and will be able to repair the veil, preventing the extinction of the two co-existing races. The only problem is that every human they find dies, and they have been unsuccessful. However, now they believe they've found him, and the passion one of the Ancients have for him provides all the more evidence. But the passion the Ancient has for the human is so strong that he's torn between protecting the one person he loves, or saving his entire race and the humans from extinction. The Earth's inhabitants lives rest in the balance.
Junsu stared blankly at the man in front of him, deciding if he was imagining him or not. It definitely went along with possibly being crazy but if he was imagining him then his mind was more creative than he thought. The man didn’t look like any of the monsters he had been seeing but he did have an alien vibe to him. Junsu pressed himself closer to the door wondering briefly if his brothers had heard the small commotion. If they were to walk in now and see him cowering in fright and no one was there then they would call for the men in white outfits to take him away in a straight jacket. Shivering Junsu closed his eyes.
“You’re not real,” he whispered, shaking slightly, “you can’t be real.” Slowly he opened his eyes, hoping that the man had disappeared. But to his surprise he was still there.
“I’m as real as you are Junsu,” the man said, taking a small, cautious step forward, “I know you’re afraid and that’s why I’m here. You’re not going crazy, everything that’s happening has an explanation. Whether you chose to believe it or not is purely up to you but I’m willing to help you understand your situation a little better.”
Junsu watched him as he moved closer, and it was though he was gliding across the floor. So graceful was his movements it wasn’t humanly possible to walk like that without making any sounds. And yet the man’s feet made not a squeak as he walked forward.
“How do you know my name?” Junsu asked, his voice to small to make himself seem unafraid.
“I know more than you think,” came the reply. By now he was close enough to Junsu to touch him and that’s exactly what he did. The man’s hand shot out and gently rested it on Junsu’s forehead. Junsu winced away from it but he stopped when he felt the touch of cool skin against his own. The touch that calmed him down at night after his mysterious nightmares.
“It was you,” he whispered, staring wide eyed at the man, “but how-”
“That can be answered another time when things have smoothed over. I need you to know what’s going on before tomorrow morning.”
“What’s happening tomorrow?” Junsu watched the man curiously. “And who are you? Why are you in my room and are so interested in me? If you have answers you’d better start speaking before I call the cops.”
“The police can’t do anything to me. My name is Park Yoochun and I am not of the human race.” Yoochun waited for a response that came slowly. Suddenly he heard a snicker come from Junsu and then a bark of laughter that he had to fight back behind his hand, but his eyes danced with denial. He didn’t believe Yoochun. After all he had seen Yoochun had thought that the human would have at least considered the possibility. Maybe he had worded it wrong.
“Yeah and Santa Clause is real,” Junsu whispered, rolling his eyes. “Look, if you want to be an alien then go right ahead, but I have my own problems to deal with so if you could just leave then-”
“You’re seeing creatures, things you can’t explain,” Yoochun said, making Junsu freeze with his hand on the doorknob. “Ugly things that only you can see while the other humans are completely oblivious. And you’re having strange dreams that you can’t remember when you wake up in the morning. You’re not eating, constantly looking over your shoulder, jumping at the slightest thing. Does that sound about right?”
“How do you know?”
“Like I said Kim Junsu, I know more than you think, and it’s vitally important that you listen to what I have to say...your life is in danger.” There was no answer but Junsu kept his back to Yoochun. Slowly Yoochun carried on, not sure of how to word his explanation.
“Like I told you, I’m not human, I’m from an old race known as the Ancients. We’ve lived on this planet while the humans were evolving. For millennia we’ve hid among your kind, blending easily enough without creating too much interference with your evolution. But we’re not the only kind that has lived among your people. Other beings, monsters or creatures whatever you prefer, they preferred staying hidden but occasionally would wander around humans, play with them, trick them, take them away. Fairytales were derived from these incidents and that is how the supposedly cute fairies and other creatures got their reputations. In truth, they’re terrible things that are cunning, cruel and tricky. They began to get bored with the humans, started hating their dullness. As the humans advanced they began to forget about the things they used to play with when they weren’t as evolved. The fairytale creatures became just that-fairytale creatures. Because of the sudden isolation, the creatures began to retaliate and a number of mysterious disappearances and deaths arose during the early Victorian period. At that time the Ancients were flourishing, loving the fact that they could wander around the humans so freely without any problems. But the problems didn’t just lie with the humans; soon the creatures began attacking the Ancients as well. Our most dangerous enemy, the vampires, were the main attackers, and many of us had been killed. Our king had been taken away and never seen again. His sons rule our people now, but we have not had a king since their father.
“After the king had been taken and there were too many deaths to ignore the growing threat, the oldest prince declared the making of another world for the creatures. They could no longer live among the humans and Ancients so he called upon the three most talented witches to create this other world. His youngest brother was included in this ceremony, as a vessel for the key to destroy and re-create the veil. It was a safety precaution because the witches assured the princes’ that the veil would never fall nor never need to be destroyed. So the creatures were all targeted and the ceremony was performed almost perfectly, except one little detail.
“During the ceremony the witches had lost half the key, which was the half to re-create the veil. They never could find where it went but they figured that however possessed the key would have the ability to see the Veil Creatures-as they have come to be known-and that would be a clear indication of who had it, should it be a human of course. But they constantly reassured the princes’ that there would be no need for the key, it was just a precaution. The Veil Creatures were all secured in their new world and for centuries we had no problems from them. Up until the last hundred years or so, however. The veil started to fade, creating small holes which allowed the creatures to escape back into this world. From what we know they want this world, and they will do anything in their power to get it back. So far none of those that had escaped are powerful enough to do any real harm so they’re just waiting and watching for the perfect moment. Thankfully none of the holes are weak or big enough to release the bigger, stronger monsters, such as vampires, so no true threat is upon us, but we don’t want that threat to occur period.
“The High Prince has been searching frantically for the one with the other half of the key. Countless humans had been found with some evidence of the sight, but they didn’t possess the key. Nonetheless he wasn’t discouraged and he kept searching, desperate to find a solution to the failing veil. The witches had long since disappeared, leaving no trace, so he has no idea how to look for the one with the sight. However, after searching for one hundred years he has found him. The one to help us re-create the veil and save all humans and Ancients alike.”
“And…you think that person is me?” Junsu asked, raising an eyebrow. “Really?”
Yoochun shrugged and continued. “You have all the signs the possessor of the key would have. Lately you’ve been having nightmares you can’t remember. The reason you can’t remember them by the way, is because our young prince is having the same dreams as you and since he possesses the half that destroys the veil he would only see the destruction it brings. If you were to both have dreams about the veil being restored and protecting everyone, you would remember that while he would forget. You both have a special bond between the keys which is actually how we found you. Another sign is seeing the monsters that have escaped.” He looked like he wanted to say something more but he held his tongue and Junsu watched him curiously. When he didn’t continue Junsu spoke up slowly.
“Was there any more evidence to all this?”
Yoochun recovered and shook his head, looking towards the wall. “No…there’s nothing more, but that’s enough for us. We know because of the young prince and his connection with you.”
“Okay so let’s say I do believe all this,” Junsu said after a few moments. “Then what am I supposed to do about it? Magically put this veil back in order?”
Yoochun shrugged. “Well…yeah actually. But it’s not that easy…we have to unlock the key first before it can be used. Your visions and dreams are kind of like side effects to the key, but to possess its true power it needs to come out of hibernation.”
“And how do I do that?” Yoochun’s look worried Junsu and he suddenly didn’t want to know the answer. However, Yoochun answered in a clear voice, despite the fact that his eyes looked so pained and worried.
“You need to meet some witches the High Prince had trained in case of such an emergency. They will unlock the key…it isn’t a safe procedure however; humans are far too delicate to withstand it. Most of those who went through with it….” He trailed off and Junsu looked at him in both fear and expectation.
“They what?”
“They died…all of them died.”

Outside the apartment building a sudden group of people stood, and stared up at the room that was lit. The one in the front stood with a straight back, his round hazel eyes stern and his pouting lips drawn down in a frown. His porcelain skin was flawless and his short dark brown hair had been styled so it clung around his face. He was dressed in modern clothing, like all his people had come to dress, and he wasn’t very happy with the situation.
“Is he up there Yunho?” he asked, not looking his guard in the eye.
“Yes my Prince, Yoochun and the human are both up there,” Yunho replied, his hands clenching into fists. Stupid Yoochun, always acting without thinking; always going against the rules. It always irritated Yunho to see how free and careless Yoochun was.
“I guess we have no choice but to bring the human to the witches tonight then,” the High Prince sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose. “Fine, let’s go, and do not create a big commotion. Bring the human and Yoochun to the castle without drawing too much attention, I believe the human has siblings.”
“As you wish Prince Jaejoong,” Yunho muttered, giving his prince a sweeping bow. Behind him two other guards stood and they bowed deeply and respectfully as well. Then the four of them were inside in a flash.
Junsu yelped and this time he didn’t bother keeping it quiet. He smacked into the door and slid to the ground, eyes wide and his mouth open in fear. Yoochun whirled around to see four new Ancients standing in the suddenly crowded room, and he scowled. How did the prince find out about this so fast? He had been hoping to have a longer chance at explaining everything.
“You shouldn’t have done that,” the prince snapped, his face written in disappointment. Briefly Yoochun felt guilt flutter through him but he pushed it back quickly.
“And if I didn’t, you would have grabbed him without warning, shoved him into the center of witches to see if he really did possess the sight,” he snapped back, making Yunho tense. Prince Jaejoong raised his eyebrows but remained where he was. “At least now he knows what he’s in for…and I didn’t want him to die without knowing what it was he was dying for.”
“How do you know this human is going to die? Because all the others did? This one has the sight Yoochun, there’s no point in making it seem like he doesn’t, you’re only creating more problems for us,” Jaejoong replied, and Junsu found he was hypnotized by the prince’s looks and voice. He commanded a lot of attention that was for sure.
Suddenly the bedroom door was pushed on and Junsu was sent scampering out of its way. It crashed open, hitting the wall loudly, revealing Junho and Key standing there with concern written on their faces.
“We heard voices and noises,” Junho told Junsu when he saw him on the ground. “Are you okay…?” He looked up the little party in the room and his face paled, the baseball he held in his hand dropping to the ground. Key’s eyes widened and he too froze on the spot. Prince Jaejoong moaned and Yunho took a step forward. Quickly Jaejoong put a hand out and shook his head.
“They’re no threat to us,” he said, “but it is highly inconvenient. We must go, leave the siblings and bring the human and Yoochun.” Yunho grabbed Yoochun’s arm, while the other two guards helped Junsu stand up. The sight seemed to drag Junho out of his stupor and he shook his head, his eyes narrowing.
“And just where do you think you’re taking Junsu?” he demanded, walking up to Jaejoong. Yunho let go of Yoochun’s arm and was in front of his prince instantly, staring fiercely at Junho. Faltering under the intimidating look, Junho looked at Junsu desperately. “Does this have anything to do with his nightmares?”
Prince Jaejoong turned back to Junsu’s twin and looked at him with interest. “How do you know of these nightmares?”
“How could we not? Junsu’s been sleeping restlessly for the past few weeks. He hasn’t been eating well either. I just want to know if he’s okay that’s all.” Again he looked at Junsu with desperation in his eyes. Key looked on in complete shock. Prince Jaejoong looked at Junho thoughtfully for a moment and then turned to Yunho who looked at him expectantly. Junsu managed to break free from the guards but they still stood firmly between him and his brothers.
“Bring the brothers along I guess, we don’t want them following us and leading those monsters to our castle,” Jaejoong declared suddenly, shocking everyone. “I fear it’s too late for them to stay back as it is.”
“Thanks?” Junsu mumbled, and Jaejoong whirled on his heel, and disappeared. Yoochun and Yunho followed shortly after and then the guards and the Kim siblings. In the next second the crowded room was empty and the light went out when a small gust of wind brushed by it.
