So, some time has passed since I've updated.. Go figure.
Right in the middle of exam period now... My life gets pretty basic when it comes time for exam, wake up, eat, study, eat, study, go to sleep, repeat. There is the occasional change of pace in there, and quite a bit of procrastination, but it's mostly all the same. Also, I get pretty lazy in everything else aside from studying when it comes to finals, so I can't be bothered to do laundry, and my room is a disaster area. Pleasant.
Luckily I'll be done on Friday ... then it's freedom!
So, lately, I've been getting really into poker. The whole Texas Hold 'Em craze is definitely sweeping North America, and I've definitely caught the bug. I enjoy gambling at stakes I can afford to lose, so this is an obvious draw - but, the reason Hold 'Em is so appealing to me, is that there is a TON of skill involved. It took me a while to realize this, as before I thought it had mostly to do with who got what cards, but the more I've played, and the more I've studied on it, I've come to realize that for truly skilled players, the cards hardly even matter.
I really like things that I can constantly improve on, and there is always ways to get way better. Poker is definitely one of these things. If I look at my play even as recently as 6 months ago, it's laughable how bad I was and how much I thought about the game in black and white. Even now, after I've done a lot of reading and studying, and playing, I consider myself far better than I ever was - but, the exciting thing is that I know I can and will get so much better.
There is really potential to make some pretty decent money playing Hold Em, because with its explosion in popularity, everyone and their dog wants to get into the game these days. So all it takes is a solid grasp of the math of the game, a little bit of general card knowledge, and decent reads on people, and you can become a poker player that wins significant amounts of money.
Anyway, that's enough of my poker rant for now ...
