Dear lifejournal. I have been neglecting you of late despite having many many amazing things to write about. However, Ive mostly been so ignorant because Ive been too busy....
being happy.
You heard it here first folks, Amy is bordering on really happy for the first time in she doesnt remember how long. For many reasons, but mostly because I've managed to obtain 3 amazing jobs in the last few months - One at UWA, one at the Perth International Arts Festival and one at Spare Parts (Special note: I interviewed and was offered one of these jobs while coming down off e - no mean feat I would say). And while sipping champagne and eating strawberries at work this afternoon (in the garden - with 120 degree river views) I reflected upon a weekend of
-Incredibly moving visual art (Pls go see Raised by Wolves at AGWA)
-Frighteningly good local theatre, thanx M. Lutton
-Eating the best canapes of my life
-Enjoying my first ever opening at AGWA and not feeling completely out of place (Its a big deal to me okay? heh)
-Peter and the nasty Wolf
-Hanging out with Noongar elders
-Cold beer, satisfying noodles and adorable songs courtesy of Angus and Julia Stone
and other wonderful things. And I realised that I made the best decision of my life by throwing myself into this thing we call "Arts Management." It should be called "hanging out drinking seeing art and loving every minute youre at work."
So. Thats my gloat. I want to write more, but I'm off to see more good art and drink more free beer. And so it will be until March 5th.
P.S. My picks of the festival
- Keating! (cept its sold out suckers)
- Small Metal Objects (Theatre in the street thats not street theatre, ya dig?)
- Neistat Brothers exhibition at PICA (I got several phone calls complaining about this on my first day - must be good)
- The Walkmen/Archie Bronson Outfit (Garage yes please)
aaaaannndddd Circus Oz (No animals 'course)
Go see some shit my little kittens!
