Hot and Hellish on Day 1

RECIPE FOR TORTURE:

- Long queues at NAIA2
- Seat 28A (only the worst seat on an Airbus 320)
- A smelly Indonesian seatmate who just can't stop yapping
- A seconds-from-disaster qualifying landing
- Dry heat close to 100 degrees (this is Mindanao, baby... in summer)
- All the best food in town that you're not allowed to eat
- An invitation to one of SoCot's best beaches (I'm no beach-and-sun person)

Mix 'em all in one day... Voila! Instant holy week suffering package!

If any of you have watched the TV Patrol feature on Gumasa Beach in Glan, Saranggani (the semi-virgin boracay of Mindanao, just 45 minutes from my place), you'd be itching to go there. Powder-fine white sand; calm, crystal clear waters; bamboo cottages; foreign hunks parading in bikinis; fresh catch for lunch; etc.
I was invited to that place. Not sure if I'd go. The summer heat is fun and all, but again, this is Mindanao... You won't enjoy the heat unless you're the devil yourself.
