que bonita fue esa noche

It's been a while since the last entry, but last week was plagued with technical difficulties on my part. But I FINALLY have a fully functioning computer, thanks to the roommate. And it rocks. It even has some lights.

Anyway. School started last week, and so far it's better than last semester. My hard class this semester is Molecular Cell Biology, but it's not that bad. It's interesting, and the professor went over some basic biology so I could review. French is a very fun class with a very fun teacher. Hopefully I can actually converse a bit in french by the end of the semester. Abnormal Psychology is such an awesome subject, but I'm a bit disappointed by the teacher, who's a master's student who reads directly from the lecture notes. Hopefully the class will get more interesting as the semester progresses. Musicology is my favorite class so far. This semester covers the classical, romantic, and contemporary (impressionist, 20th century, electronic, etc) periods. The professor is great; he lectures like he's telling a story. He reminds me of mielke with his extensive knowledge of baroque history. So fascinating :)

Music classes. Orchestra is good, especially since I have three less hours per week of it this semester ;) But we are actually playing some really cool pieces, such as a flute concerto by a french impressionist Jacques Ibert (yummy), and Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini by Rachmaninoff, a very nice piece. In chamber, we are playing my absolute favorite piece in the world, Adagio by Guillaume Lekeu, another french impressionist. I was in utter awe when I found out that we were playing this piece. I'm also in a gamba ensemble, a quintet made up of baroque instruments. I'll be playing the tenor gamba. The music is so boring, but it'll be fun learning a relatively different instrument.

I'll be pretty busy, along with my new job in the psychology department. It's only like 8 hours a week, but it's something. I have my own freakin office and mac. Woah.
Pictures from colombia are past due, but I'm still in the process of installing everything over again in my computer. It's a pain. I miss colombia too.

My mouth is feeling much better after the surgery. I wasn't put to sleep during the surgery, but it wasn't bad at all. Recovery was really quick; I did errands and went to UM the next day. But oh god never again, even though I only took the pain medication twice, I was sore and the week was a bitch.

It feels great to be back in the routine and seeing everybody in classes and everywhere else. I have to watch desperate housewives now.
