Debate impressions

I can't get over just how much McCain looked like Nixon tonight, with his shoulders up by his ears and his neck hunched forward. I really expected him to hold up his fingers in a "four more years" gesture at any moment.

Horserace-wise, I think it's pretty much over for McCain. FFS, I live in Missouri, and we're polling at Obama+3. McCain needed a huge shakeup this evening if he wanted to have a chance, and I just didn't see one. The dials and post-debate snap polling all show Obama "won" the debate by double-digit margins (CNN: 54%-30% overall, "Stronger leader": 54%-43%, "Better on economy": 59%-37%; CBS undecided debate watchers: 39%-27%)

Edit: I can't say I liked either candidate's constant nods to the myth of American Exceptionalism. Being aggressively imperialistic is not ok just because we're the one's doing it. Really.
