Today, I had my mid-tem evaluation with my supervisor, Bernardo where we first discussed the progress of my work. I showed him where I was with all the companies, then he gave me more details to look into (i.e. more work to do).
Pleased with my organization, he complimented me on the work I had done and we decided I would continue to work with him and my Benfica TV project instead of switching over to working under Henrique and the Benfica Brand and Merchandising department. At this point, he asked whether I was interested in continuing my time at Benfica and of course I said yes, but I soon understood he meant permanently, and asked if I preferred to go back to California. I replied that I was to return to California to finish my degree, but that after that, where ever I go will depend on the career opportunity and that Portugal was NOT out of the cards, that I enjoy living here very much. He concluded that even one year from now, my project will still be in the works, that it will be an ongoing thing (by this I understood that my job would still be waiting for me after I get back?)...
But dont get too nervous just yet dear friends, I told him I would cross that bridge when I get to it. But so far, looks like I am going to stay here till my highly anticipated summer getaway beginning in late June, that my experience at Benfica doesnt end after my internship period. We didnt talk about getting paid but I found out how much someone in my position typically gets paid, so I am considering bargaining with him once my intern period is up.
My heart is racing. This is great news to know that I am doing a good enough job to be offered to stay with such a famous company.
I also shyly asked another director at the office (whose in charge of the corporate sponsor top dogs) about how I could see a game. She
told me she would give me an invite for the benfica-maritimo game on the 26th. Pretty Cool huh? Hope she gives me two, so I dont have to go alone! haha
Other than that, nothing much else has changed. I found a dope gym right in the stadium where I get a discount for being a Benfica "callaborator" as they call it, so thats a good hobby for me.
Now all I need is a more stable social life! Portuguese people are so....fechado! (closed?). but im sure that one will be like Braga and I will feel right at home just about a week before I leave this place.
TGIF!!!
