June is fully underway but the weather has continued to be rainy and unseasonably cool. We drove over to Acton on the weekend between showers for some fresh air. There were patches of the achloroplastic Indian Pipe, Monotropa uniflora, pushing up from the detritus but no mushrooms worth notice.
We planted some herb seeds from a starter kit that Julian got for his birthday and they have germinated with success. They are posted at the sliding door and hopefully get enough light to continue their development to harvest after transplant into larger indoor containers. As far as food, we've been diverging back into Indian, mostly recipes from the Cinnamon Club books. Last night we enjoyed king prawns in a delicate and nutty saffron almond sauce. We have also tried the hyderabadi style fish korma which I may have over chilied slightly and a poppy seed crusted hot and sweet tilapia with yogurt sauce. Basmati lemon rice or pilau made good accompaniments. Tonight we'll be fighting off the damp with the comfort food feeling of chicken pot pie.
In our spare time, we have been watching the comedy series Weeds and playing Carcassonne. we are looking forward to adding on the River II and Inns and Cathedrals expansions.
