Hotel recommendations?

My husband and I are going to be visiting Portland in May and are looking for some good hotel recommendations. I've been looking on Travelocity and reading reviews, but I don't know much about the areas or their locations in respect to the "tourist" stuff, as well as the general safety of the areas. We visited last Sept. and loved it. That visit we stayed at the Shiloh Inn in Beaverton which we liked but I was looking for something different this time.

Also if there are any recommendations for things we should do that would be awesome.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
