While many Harmonians were disappointed with the Potter books' relationships, they can take heart in discovering that the canon ships ships prompted some people to write their alternative versions. This is how our latest interviewee discovered her talent for writing stories. Portkey is lucky to host her work which have been acclaimed for intricate plotting and unexpected plot twists. We are referring to She-Who-Must-Torture-Hermione, purveyor of bewildering mystery and heart-stopping suspense, our very own mistress of angst, none other than BB Ruth.
A mother of two and a career person, BB Ruth was far from trying to become a writer when she started reading the HP books. She picked up Philosopher's Stone shortly before Book 6 was released. She shipped Harry/Hermione from the get-go and thus was understandably devastated when they did not get together in canon. The clincher was the Harry/Ginny kiss in the sixth book, which drove her loony to imagine and eventually write Potter fanfiction.
Her maiden story, The Cardinal Curses, was well received with nearly 450 reviews to date in Portkey and fanfiction.net combined. Encouraged by this warm welcome, BB Ruth went on to write The Purple Potion and is presently delighting her readers with The Keeper.
