What I did in the holidays

(Be warned - this is fairly image heavy!)

I had 2 1/2 weeks enforced holiday, what with Christmas & New Year & the publisher closing down until Jan 8. I *intended* to do lots of knitting, cover 2 chairs & get started on this year's writing. What I actually did was (1) have a holiday, and (2) work on my business website.

After a sunny and very enjoyable Christmas Day in the mountains with my friends C & B & some others, I went down on Boxing Day to the nation's capital, Canberra, 3 1/2 hours by coach from Sydney. (Add the 2 hours to get back down the mountain, & it was pretty much a whole day travelling.) I spent almost a week relaxing & catching up with my nephew, his wife and their two young children. We went to the National Museum, which is full of hands-on activities for kids & Australian cultural history with a strong emphasis on indigenous stories. I went to the ANG to see an exhibition of Russian revolutionary art, (& spent a lot of time photographing the building & the ball from various angles).

And one afternoon my nephew & I abandoned the rest of the family and went for a drive along steep and twisty mountain roads to the deep space centre at Tidbinbilla. I took several photos of the various radio telescopes and the tracking station.

I got home on New Year's Eve, & since then have been working pretty much non-stop on the new version of my freelance journalism website, uploading articles & images to the great new shell my son developed for me as my very useful Christmas present. So very little knitting, *no* writing, & only one chair covered before Christmas.

But I had a great holiday!
