Knit news & other stuff

What a day! I have cleaned the bathroom, washed the floors, done two loads of washing, paid my power bill, reported in to my business guru and made a banana cake and finally updated my ravelry projects.

Whew!

The banana cake came about because I was trying once again to eat bananas (they're full of tryptophan, a precursor to serotonin and magnesium and potassium), but once again I found them too turnipy-tasting (they were not very ripe), & decided better to cook with them. Now I know banana cake needs really ripe bananas, but I was able to finagle it by mixing them with the three spoonfuls of stewed apple and ginger I had left, plus a couple of spoons of golden syrup. I also added 1/2 a cup of sunflower seeds for a little crunch. I haven't tasted it yet, but it cooked in the right time & looks like a proper loaf. so I'd say it worked.

After I'd done all my chores (nice old-fashioned word, that), I had fun updating my ravelry projects. I'm sitting here surrounded by bags of ends of balls of yarn, my pattern folder, my fave book on knitting blocks, & feeling dead chuffed that some at least of my projects have worked quite well.

I did not put up the big old cardigan I knitted in WoolEase - it's very cosy, but it's gone so pilly & baggy, & the buttons won't stay on, so it' a just around the house item. I might consider putting up the first thing I knitted this time around - the rosy pink top, even though the Patons Velveteen yarn was completely wrong for the pattern, being much too bulky, so you can't really see the flame chevrons, plus it's too big to be a summer top. But I did learn some lessons, so maybe it's a a cautionary tale. (I have three balls of the yarn left - I wonder if that's enough for another scarf?)

The two Brillas are there, plus the Novella shawl in a never seen before photo, & a few other things I'm proud of, including the mystery project, which became a party bag for idlewild. Now I'm trying to finish the giant three shades of purple scarf for my business guru/friend so i can get back to the gorgeous cabling for Kepler.
