Exciting maths, what?
I used to think Futurama wasn't a patch on The Simpsons (when The Simpsons was at its peak). Now this article has got me thinking again.
I can do basic maths (what was called 'mental arithmetic' when I was a child), but that's as far as it goes, yet I find higher mathematics strangely beautiful & exciting, even if I can't understand a darn thing.
And of course, in-jokes that only a few geeks can get are cool - once they're pointed out to plebs like me.
