Here's my take on it (bare with me pure summary)
I assume something along the lines of Wheatley is almost falling off a rail. Chell loves Wheatley, so to save him she throws a core at him to keep him from falling off. Wheatley assumes the core saved his life. Chell wants to become an AI and goes up to GLaDOS. GLaDOS will upload her into a core/turret/robot/android?????? but in exchange, chell must give up the thing she loves, her tongue to eat cake. Chell agrees, and her brain is uploaded into a core/turret/robot thing. If she is away from her body for too long Chell would surely die. Of course when she becomes a core/turret/robot thing, wheatley comes over and assumes that she is defective because she can't talk. Stuff happens, and Curiosity/Anger/some sort of core appears and Wheatley thanks them for saving them. Chell is devastated and asks GLaDOS to put her back in her own body. GLaDOS refuses and Chell dies unhappy.
Of course this is my VERY BRIEF take on it... I can write the story if this sounds alright

Now I am going to assume, everyone who is reading this has already played Portal and Portal 2, and knows who all of the characters being mentioned are. And this is before Wheatley unplugged himself from his rail. So here we go, The Little Mermaid my take on it Portal Style.
------------------------------------
Chell has always wanted to go above the 30th level floor of testing. She hoped that above would be a door to freedom from the pain of testing. And hopefully, sunlight. The only thing that kept her from going above, were the amazingly long line of turrets on the stairway, and the lack of available shields and portal surfaces.
Oh how badly Chell wanted to go to the surface; to see deer, to feel sunshine, and to feel real non-recycled air. She decided the only way to get what she wanted, was to take matters into her own hands.
She stood behind the corner of the wall and peaked over the stairway of turrets, she was just barely out of the line of sight. She could see the catwalk on the other side, perhaps at the end of that catwalk was a door to freedom? She took in a slow deep breath in, clenching her portal gun in her right hand. She ran around the corner and began to dash through the rain of bullets. The friction of the bullets tore holes into her jumpsuit and top. She rolled after she passed the last turret, her arm trickling of red blood down her elbow. She stood triumphantly for a moment, then began to dash across the catwalk. She saw the massive space underneath the panels. It was quite frightening, it was just. A Pit. An Empty Deep Pit. Although her arm was bleeding a lot, she knew that she had to keep moving to take her freedom.
"GAH! OH NO! OH NO! NONONONONO!" She looked up, and in the distance she could see it was her old friend Wheatley. He was about to fall off his rail.
"I DON'T WANT TO DIE!" She was in a slight panic. She did not want her only friend at Aperture Science to be destroyed. Chell painfully squinted around Wheatley, she found a portal surface under him, and another one across to another catwalk. She carefully aimed her Portal Gun to the right spots.
"Oh? -GASP- A Portal! I'm saved! Okay, I'm gonna let go in 1--2--umm actually umm this is a bit high. what if I miss?" The rail squeaked horribly.
"3! 3! LETTING GO NOW---" He fell into the portal and was safely at the other catwalk.
"Oh, Thank goodness these portals were there, but who did that?" Chell wanted to signal him, but there were no portal surfaces on her side. And besides, if GLaDOS finds out she wasn't in the testing areas, she might get mad and force Chell back into there.
"Ummm---how do I get anywhere now?? Oh-JERRY! JERRY! I'm sorry to bother you mate but---ummm could you pick me up please? and just...attach me to that rail over there? that safe-looking rail? Please? It would be very much appreciated!" Chell watched as Wheatley appeared to float over to a rail above the catwalk he was portal to.
"Thank you very much Jerry, well, onto finding that lady!" Chell was really going to miss that metal ball of idiocy.
She ran farther down the catwalk. She saw a door! A door that possibly led to freedom. She slowly reached for a shiny red button next to the door. As her hand lightly grazed across the button, the catwalk collapsed. She was falling, to her death. She didn't expect this to happen. She hoped there was floor when she landed, not fire. She did not have "being incinerated" on her calendar that day, or any other day for that matter.

She fell deeper, deeper into the pit. After 30 minutes of falling, she finally landed. Hard. She looked up, she was in GLaDOS' chamber.
"Oh, It's you." The haunting upside down robot swung it's massive self around to turn to Chell.
"I saw you on the catwalk up there. You do know that test subjects are not allowed on the catwalk. Those are reserved for scientists. And be honest, you don't have the capability of becoming a scientist. You have the brain capacity the size of a grape. A fragile grape that can be smashed easily into mush."
Chell looked around disappointed, she was back to square one of escaping Aperture Laboratories.
"Did you know I was in sleep-mode before you crashed in here? You woke me up. You chubby tub of lard. I'm surprised you didn't crash through my floor. To be honest. I thought an elephant fell from the sky. But it was just you."
Chell sat in front of GLaDOS, looking down. She wondered if GLaDOS would've liked her better if she was an AI. She wondered if she was destined to be the only human at Aperture Laboratories. She wondered if she could escape with Wheatley.
"And did I mention that your parents called, here, I'll put their message *BEEP* The parents who are trying to call you, is trying to tell you, that you were a mistake and we don't love you *BEEP* That was very valuable information. This is a true message. I would never make that up"
A tear rolled off Chell's cheek.
"Oh-Did I make you cry? I'm truly honestly SERIOUSLY sorry about that" Chell glared at GLaDOS sarcasm.
"How about I make you a deal? To show that I'm not as bad a person as you. I know you like that little idiot on the monitor"
A giant screen floated down from the ceiling. It clicked on and Chell could see Wheatley on the television. He was pondering to himself.
"Where did those Portals come from? Were they from the lady? But she wasn't there, how can portals come from someone who wasn't there?? Was it another AI? It must have been, I'm absolutely sure it was an AI" Chell touched the screen with her left hand, she missed her friend.
GLaDOS saw the look on Chell's face and devised a plan.
"You know. There's no way he would be your friend" Chell glared up at GLaDOS.
"I'm serious. Do you REALLY think that he'd want to be friends with a smelly, fat, adopted human?" Chell did remember Wheatley calling humans smelly at one point.
"Well I can help you, I promise. Just hear me out. I found an early study in my archives. The scientists were trying to figure out how to upload a human brain into a computer. I'm not lying. It says here 'This was a triumph'. So, my plan is that I rip your brain out of that tiny skull of yours, and shove it into an empty core. And that metal ball would adore you so much more than your... full body"
Chell didn't want to trust GLaDOS, but she figured as an AI she would could become closer friends to Wheatley, perhaps GLaDOS would be nicer to her as well. GLaDOS did prefer robots over humans. It made perfect sense. Chell WANTED to become an AI. She knew with GLaDOS watching her every move, she couldn't escape Aperture Laboratories. Chell stood up and faced GLaDOS.
"Good. I have your attention then. Now let's-oh... There's a catch. It says if you don't return to your body after 48 hours, you will die. Probably because without a brain, your body would begin to deteriorate."
Chell thought about it hard. On one hand, she could become an AI and be friends with Wheatley, perhaps even live forever. Like GLaDOS.
"Initiating...Brain transfer procedure" A voice that was not GLaDOS could be heard.
"WARNING During the brain transfer process, you may feel itchy, light-headedness, bleeding, diarrhea, shortness of breath, and extreme pain in the back of your head. Just think happy thoughts and this will be over in no time"
Lights flashed. The machine thundered. And Everything Went Black.

"I would say this was a success" Chell whirled her eyes around the room and found her human body on the floor. Blankly staring into the distance. It scared her a little. It was like staring at a dead person. She saw the portal gun and tried her best to roll over it. Cleverly inserting itself within her machinery. GLaDOS picked Chell up.
"I do have to say you feel a lot lighter as a core. I'll just put you on a rail and send you to that idiot you love so much." GLaDOS sent the claw away.
Chell saw the massive pit beneath her, hoping that the claw wouldn't all of a sudden let go. She saw the rail, and a probe that could freely move on it. The claw turned her around and gently lowered Chell onto the probe. She felt every inch of the probe inserting itself within her. It felt strange. The probe began to expand, she could hear the sound of metal scraping against each other.
"Oh! You must be new!" Chell looked over to see a glowing blue metal ball darting it's way towards her, it was Wheatley.
"Well, Welcome to conscientiousness! I am Wheatley. I own the place. And you are?"
...
"...eh-heh-heh... umm... Are your vocal programmings acting up?"
...
"...alrighty then, I'll just call you ummm---let's see..." Chell wanted to let Wheatley know she was the lady he woke up in the cryogenic chambers. She moved the pistons inside her to function the portal gun and was able to create two portals on a few surfaces.
"Oh Wow! You can create portals? That's it then! I'll call you---P-body!!"
Chell closed her eye a little in disgust. But it was fine. He didn't truly have to call her by her name.

"Well! Off we go then, P-body!" They both raced off the railings.
"There is so much I want to show you, okay---over there is the turret lines. The defective ones get catapulted into the incinerator. Quite enjoyable to watch actually. And over here is a turret graveyard, funny story it includes a mad AI and paradoxes. but I want to show you more of the facility first---Oh there's a door here, hold on I'm going to try to hack it. Could you turn around please? Just for a quick moment? Alright there we are." They must of whirred across the entire facility.
"To tell you the truth I was looking for this lady running around, if you could find her for me that would be tremendous but honestly I've been having a good time being with you" Chell felt so happy, she was able to be this close to Wheatley. She was close enough to feel his hot metal body against hers.
"You know, here's a funny story. A couple hours ago, I was about to fall off my rail, and out of nowhere a portal shows up and saves me! I don't know who opened those portals, but I would like to meet them one day and truly thank them" Chell rolled her eye because she knew exactly who did it.
"I'm sorry, is there something wrong?"
Chell eagerly nodded her eye.
"There is something wrong?"
Chell nodded her eye side to side
"So there's nothing wrong? Good then."
Chell was begining to get frustrated. She moved her rail back and forth.
"Are you trying to tell me something, P-body?? Just say it"
Chell twirled herself around blinking frantically.
"Are you trying to get me to look at that test chamber??"
Chell gave up. He truly was an idiot.
"What's going on over there?" Chell turned herself towards the test chambers. She saw inside two AIs solving GLaDOS' test.
"GASP! That tall lean orange one! That must of been the AI that saved me!" Chell was shocked.
"I'm gonna go down there and give them a greeting and a proper thank you" Chell's eye panels dropped. She couldn't believe it. Wheatley thought another AI saved him.
"I'm sorry, but I couldn't help but notice you across the room! And I would like to say Thank you! Yes-Yes--you and I? We're gonna be best friends from now on"
Chell looked down into the pit. She began to rail herself away. She was truly heart broken. She wandered and wandered into a room tubes of conversion gel inside.
The lights turned off. Chell swirled her eye around to examine what was going on. The rail released her and she crashed through the floor. When she looked around, she was in GLaDOS' chamber.
"Well, it turns out you don't have to be an AI to win his affection. You are just a really unlikable person."
Chell was too heartbroken to react to GLaDOS' insults.
"Do you want to go back into your old body?" Chell looked up at GLaDOS. She wasn't sure if GLaDOS was serious or not.
"Well you can't, because I threw it in the incinerator. And now I'm going to throw you into the incinerator as well."
Chell actively rolled herself around the room, looking for portal surfaces. She couldn't find one.
"Hold Still" GLaDOS' claw was following Chell around the room. It crashed into the tubes of conversion gel and covered the entire chamber. Chell spawned portals throughout the chamber. She moved through each one of them dodging the claw. She looked into the distance and saw an opening within the chamber with a portal surface over a catwalk on the other side! Chell shot a portal across the opening. She skillfully rolled herself across orange conversion gel, and catapulted herself off of the blue gel, and successfully shot a portal for her to escape the chamber.
"Oh, you've got to be kidding me. She's still a monster"
She rolled herself along the catwalk, happy to be still alive. But then she thought to herself, did she really want to go back to Wheatley and watch him be friends with another AI and completely ignore her? No. She wanted Wheatley all to herself. She attached herself onto a rail and briskly glided towards the test chamber where she left Wheatley.

"And then I said to him--I said to him, 'But Jerry~human behinds a broken! Because there's a huge crack in it!' AHAHA! Ohh... You're busy solving this puzzle I see" The AI didn't even care about Wheatley's jokes! She looked around, and saw a portal surface over nothing. She knew that anything that goes through a portal placed there would fall down this pit, and never be seen again. She quickly shot a portal there and aimed for the surface underneath the orange AI.
But then she paused. Was it truly fair to destroy an AI just because you want another AI to yourself? Could she really go through with destroying her best friend? She would be just like GLaDOS. She doesn't really want the AI dead, she just wants it gone. Chell accepted that Wheatley just won't take her as his savior. And with this thought, she railed herself back into GLaDOS' chamber.
"Oh. You're back? Did you just finally realize how pathetic you are? I can fix that."
And with a light laughter, a claw lowered itself from the ceiling.
It picked Chell up and hovered over the incinerator.
"It's been fun. But I'm afraid you can no longer reside in my domain. No hard feelings"
The claw dropped Chell into the incinerator. She felt the hot air flow through her. She looked into the distance and saw Wheatley still speaking to the orange AI. She watched them as she felt the wires inside her melt. She watched her only friend, as she lost conscientiousness and died.
Not a happy ending. But then again. The Little Mermaid was not a happy story.

"P-body?" He watched Chell's panel melt off and saw the portal gun fall out. He watched wide eyed as the portal gun fell deeper into the hot lava.
"That gun! That belonged to the lady from the cryogenics! But, why would P-body have the gun?? Did they steal it from her? No. No. Unless..."
A spark fizzled as Wheatley gazed in amazement.
"P-body... WAS the lady... O dear..."
In the distance, GLaDOS haunting gentle laughter can be heard.
Yep. First Try at a fill. My hat is off to you who were able to read through all that without massively regurgitating all over yourself. Good for you.

honesty time: the ending wasn't entirely to my taste, but i find myself really enjoying your writing style! it's got this poetic-yet-stark edge to it that really works with the Dark Fairy Tale theme.
i'm gonna go have to draw something nice and fluffy to cheer myself up now.

As Chell plummeted deeper into the incinerator, she saw a melted rail in the flames. She quickly spun around to attach herself onto the rail. She had a plan. She rolled herself as close to the lava as she could without melting. The wires within her melted, sparks began to fly, and her insides were overheating.
She charged herself up and launched herself up the rail. She traveled with enough speed to fly out of the incinerator and crash through the walls of GLaDOS' chamber.
"Why won't you die?" Chell enjoyed her brief moment of victory as she flew. But she knew she had to find a rail quickly, or else she would fall too far deep into the pit. As she fell she shot a portal onto a surface above a catwalk, and another portal to a surface below her.
She barely made it, she dented the side of her shell but was able to roll onto the catwalk. She rolled and rolled and presented herself to a rail probe where it forcefully latched her onto it. She was elated to know that her plan worked, and now the only thing left to do was to find Wheatley and prove herself to him that she saved him.
She darted through the facility, looking for Wheatley. She found Wheatley following P-body like a lost puppy.
Wheatley was still talking to P-body. "And so--And so--- What happened was---I couldn't...really fulfill the deal and...I still owe him one...or two...or maybe five but, regardless I plan to pay him back anyway"
So close, but yet so far. She noticed that the rail got her close, but not into the room they were in. She decided to use her plan once more. She backed up on the rail and shot herself through the glass window.
"WHAT THE---" Wheatley yelled as Chell rolled all over the floor. "P-body? Where've you been love?" Chell rolled herself towards Wheatley and was able to use her handle bars to jump up and down, desperate for his attention.
"What is it P-body" Chell glared at the real P-body. "You don't like P-body, P-body?" Chell nodded her eye in agreement. "Why not?? P-body saved my life with the portal gun! If you don't like P-body, then we can't be friends!"
Chell moved the machinery inside her to use the portal gun to shoot the portals to knock out P-body. P-body stood rubbing the top of it's body.
"You could've hurt my best friend!" As Wheatley said this, Atlas began to stroll in. "Oh, whose this fellow?" Atlas held out his arm and P-body linked themselves together, and they strolled off into the next chamber, leaving Chell and Wheatley alone.
"Oh dear, well that can't be helped. I'll catch up to them later I suppose. But I still couldn't find that lady, I was trying to lead her to the surface because if you ask me? This place has gone to the dogs, honestly."
Chell began to roll herself in circles, she was so happy to be alone with Wheatley once again.
Wheatley peered into Chell's machinery as she rolled. "Is that a portal gun?"
Chell froze. "It is a portal gun! How did you get one? I thought the lady was the only one with a portal gun"
Chell looked deeply into Wheatley's eye. "Unless, you ARE the lady?"
Chell winced her eye towards Wheatley. "It WAS you! You are the true one that saved me!"
Chell was so happy. "Did I upset you love? How did you become a core?"
...
"Oh, alright. Well, Thank you for saving me" Chell rolled herself so that her eye was touching Wheatley's shell. She blinked her eye optic and hummed her fans softly.
"I suppose we're going to be here a while, since we can't get back on the rail from here. But, as long as I'm with you I know I am safe"
THE END
