I really wish the early days of the internet were a bit better documented... I met a lot of people in IRC and even in BITNET chat (!) over the years.. and some LPMUD in Australia... another in the UK... all I remember about the one is that it had some quests like in one case you needed to shout "oh great green arkleseizure I am here".. in another case you needed to remember to "chunder" while taking a boat across some water... weird humor that people had back in the day. :) And I always thought LPC would be a great way to teach object-oriented programming. Ironically I always wanted to combine that with some kind of rendered world (at the time you might recall I was also playing with the VFX1 HMD and with that text-based raytracer... I can't remember the name anymore). Anyway, ironically it seems like a lot of those ideas made it over to the Unreal and particularly HL2 game space but maybe those ideas were the natural progression all along (sort of like how "everything tastes like chicken" because chicken tastes like everything). But I digress. I really wonder what happened to a lot of those guys. I also was involved a bit in the Bolo thing in 1993ish and Genocide, the player-killing LPMUD. Many months spent in the computer lab, using after-hours internet, hehe. :P

My roommate was a big collector of NeXT stuff, and I believe continues to have a lot of the old equipment.

I have not tried using DROP TABLES in the wild. :P They don't have traffic cameras anywhere around here to try it with anyway, but maybe next time I'm in Canada. Lately some place in Colorado attempted to tell me I owed them tolls, based on a flawed reading of my license plate. The future is now. :P
