So our babysitter Chance, who took care of my brother and sister and I for 5 years or so when we were in grade/middle school, died on Monday. He was one of our closest friends, and my heart is broken. His kidneys failed a while ago, he was on dialysis for 2 years while waiting for a kidney. His family got tested, and he was set to get his brother's kidney in 2 weeks.
Here in Kansas City he's been getting a lot of press, because some of his organs were in good enough shape to be harvested, so his death has helped some people. You can read about him or watch a little news segment here:
http://www.kmbc.com/news/14894396/detail.html I don't like to preach or whatever. and certainly, if you're against organ donation for whatever reasons, I'm not out to change your mind. I was just thinking that if the only reason you haven't signed that part of your driver's license is that there's never a sharpie around when you think of it, just take a minute and go do it.
Funeral tomorrow. Merry fucking christmas.
