Today I went to a doctor to have my extremely belated 6 month checkup (I broke my ankle in march, which puts the checkup in September - oops). They took some x-rays and the doctor came in and told me that everything was completely healed. My ankle, in his words, is "just like it was before." Then he asked if the plate bothers me (which it does - not ALL the time, but I'm usually aware of it) and then he started talking about taking it out. I was a little skeptical, because he was kind of pushing it (I think he really wanted to do it - probably because he knew it was a workers comp claim so I wouldn't have to pay for any of it). I had a lot of questions about it, but I did feel a little uncomfortable with how much he was pushing the issue. He said that now that my ankle is healed the plate isn't doing anything, taking it out wouldn't put me in any more danger, my ankle isn't more susceptible to breaking now, etc. He also told me that if I came in on a Friday, I would be walking normally by Monday (but I would have to lower my level of activiity for two weeks). He did realize that he was kind of pushing the issue and backed off and said he wasn't trying to talk me into it. Dr. Duggal in Boston had said that I should wait a full year before I take it out - I don't know. I'm going to call Workers Comp and see if they'll authorize a visit somewhere else for a second opinion. But here's the cool part:

nothing else to report. lansing sucks. school is alright. weather is strangely warm. yay bikes!
