It's all about cattle control

So long as the livestock is kept frightened and compliant the owners will sleep better at night. Certainly individuals may FEEL rebellious but so long as they are afraid to rebel there is no danger.

Besides, if people object too strenuously then maybe an airplane will have to get blown up, or maybe a "plot" will have to be trumped up by an "informant" goading a bunch of morons into accepting delivery of fertilizer - that'll make the public back down.

And once it's at airports then there will come a time that it is as routine as the metal detector - everyone will go through it. In a few years everyone will be trained and then something will happen that tells everyone that buses and trains are vulnerable too and the scanners will be everywhere and there will be checkpoints everywhere.

Profit centers like these don't roll back voluntarily - look at military spending - especially when tied to government programs. And it fits so well with the rulers need to control the population - synergistic indeed.

This has been the way it is for at least 30 years that I remember and probably forever before that barring some revolutions and it's just going to keep on tracking the same way but just slowly enough that people won't push back.

Some think that my worldview is too cynical and Machiavellian but Machiavelli was writing a manual on ruling based on what had worked in the past (to that point). People haven't changed much since then and the same methods still work. Rulers still read Machiavelli. The ruled should read it too.
