I'm more pissed off and I'm about as far from the protesting type. I think I'm pretty laid back but this just, ugh. Yeah no. I've heard about everything now I wonder what I can DO so shit like this doesn't happen again. One thing I find lacking is they tell us what happened but other than the lawsuit I can't participate in there's nothing for everyone else to show support.
Heavy reading. Painful reading. But I made myself read through the whole thing. It needed to be read.
It sickens me that this happened. It disgusts me that people let this happen. I hope people work to make sure this isn't forgotten, and that it never happens again.
morbid_curious: you're a better person than I. I started reading this, got to about Part 6 ... and just couldn't. After everything I've seen and read from various people caught up in it all firsthand, threats of rape from the cops, blatant abuses of power, and then to see the front cover of Macleans magazine and the editorial, basically saying that the cops did the right thing, protesters are nothing but troublemakers ... I've reached my saturation point. Add to that the whole BP oil spill and new evidence pointing to the possibility of there being a massive release of methane gas from underneath the ocean floor where BP was drilling which will kill millions if it does happen, and I'm really quickly losing my faith in humans, except in our ability to cause massive devastation wherever we go
( ... )
Not better - just stubborn. And I have the luxury of being on the far side of the Pacific, safely insulated where the big protests of our time took place when I was a a few years old, not just now on my doorstep to people who I know.
I did manage to steel myself, go back and continue reading. Interesting how even some of the cops thought that what was going on was fucked up. It makes me wonder what was going on behind the scenes, who gave what orders and from where ...

It's not much, but even a petition is a start.
