Un Petit Peu de Paris, Parte Quatre

No, needless to say I did not propose marriage to Cathy: The last couple of Cathy Posts probably gave the wrong impression! Still, we had a lovely time with each other. There's just something really, really cool that happens when we are next to each other. It's like we completely fit each other; it's really quite splendid. Aside from the fact she lives across the Atlantic from me? Who knows? Anything's possible down the road.

One thing I witnessed quite a bit of in Paris is what I like to call "Scooter Love." It's really terribly cute, and to witness it makes a little sigh eminate directly from the heart!

1. A distinct example of this was seen from the balcony. Red light on rue Guynemer. I'm in my robe, drinking an Orangina and smoking a cigarette. A scooter has stopped at the red light, and the driver and his female passenger do not waste a second! The visors come up and he contorts his body in such a way as he is able to totally mack out with his lady-friend! They almost looked like mating beetles, sitting there on his little scooter, kissing each other as if there wasn't a care in the world. It was nice to watch; it's always good to witness positive energy like that (I SWEAR, there's nothing like that in the United States -- why IS that?)! The light turned green, the car behind them honked after a couple of seconds, the lovers stopped their smooching and put their visors back down, and scoot-scoot-scooted across the intersection. For fuck's sake, in the US the car behind them would have shot them.

2. Heading to La Coupole with my dad, my brother, his wife, and Cathy. Getting ready to cross the street, and there's a huge bus that's been honking it's horn for a while -- and what is it honking about, then? Two people on scooters who had somehow crossed each others' paths! A man and a woman; both on their scooters, in the middle of the road. He leaned to his left, she leaned to her right. And they kissed. Totally and completely oblivious to the traffic that was frustrated in their presence. They kissed. As if suddenly aware of the bus that was at a complete standstill behind him, they beamed brilliantly at one another, said something to each other, and buzzed off in their separate ways.

More to come, some great news!
