Anyone who knows me knows that i love to read.
Today one of the two men most responsable for my love of literature died.
James Oliver Rigby, whose nom de plume was Robert Jordan lost his fight with cardiac amyloidosis
In the summer of '98 waiting in an airport in atlanta i walked into a book store and headed for the fantasy series. two teenagers were talking about a series of books that they loved called The Wheel of Time. I picked up Eye of the World, and havnt stopped reading it since.
I honestly cannot say how many times i have read the series 11 books strong at this point. rather i count how many books i have gone through...
Book 1: 4 copies, the first copy i repaired with duck tape so i could keep going for a while
Book 2: 1 copy, the only one that has lasted a decade
Book 3: 3 copies
Book 4: 4 copies
Book 5: 5 copies
Book 6: 1 copy, this one, i cant say has lasted due to the fact that its currently in 5 pieces
Book 7: 4 copies
Book 8-11: 2 copies each
the 12th book was to be the last in the series, and hopefuly it will be compleated. as many people on the boards are saying, this would be like J.K. Rowling dying when she was halfway through book 7. Except for me it's even worse, i only lived with Harry for 5 years, but Rand has been with me for far longer.
Rest in peace James Oliver Rigby, aka Robert Jordan, you are missed
