Oh, hell yeah! I think Kishi is meticulous about his character development. Even his secondary characters are quite advanced for characters that we do not see often or much at all. He doesn't spend much time developing minor characters, but really, with the amount of main and secondary characters; does he really need to be that precise?
As it stands, I think of all mangakas that I read or have read, he is among a handful of authors that never overlap or go back on their stories. I'm sure you can agree with the amount of manga you read as well. Idiosyncrasies have become a standard in manga because the fans continue to support poor writing skills.
I agree with you about Danzou. He has some sort of lineage with the Uchiha. That was apparent from the moment he stepped into the story. The Uchiha clan was head of "police" enforcement. Danzou leads Root- a militant version of ANBU that beholds a high level of military skill- that similar to what Uchiha Madara was overlooked for. The majority of early Konoha settlers did not agree with such Madara's ideals for governing. It has been said that Danzou despises Tsunade and her grandfather, the Shodaime for their loose morals. He was disappointed that he was not chosen to become the Hokage and was bettered by the Sandaime- another Hokage that Tsuande embraces his policies.
It all points to Danzou having some sort of Uchiha tie, beyond knowing the truth as to why Itachi killed off the clan. It certainly left him more than bitter. Thus why I completely agree with mandy138 as there being a grudge conspiracy (in the minimum) that Danzou is looking to settle.
I honestly do not fully trust Koharu and Homura either. They are hiding something- something BIG. I'm just not fully sure what it might be, though I'd like to guess it has something to do with Danzou and they truly are protecting Naruto for a very good reason (just in a very old fashioned way).
I'm really not as much of a manga freak that I might come off as being. I'm just someone that appreciates great writing skills, on any level. I don't want to come off as being a literary snob, but it just seems that within the fan fiction community I seem to become friendly with those that have phenomenal writing skills- such as yourself, mandy138 and minni. And I certainly do appreciate being able to have these discussions with such brilliant minds. =)
