Not even my innocence will save me from these walls.

Pulled up to the ranch last night around 4. Mercedes was in her robe smoking a cigarette on the porch. She greeted me with the open arms I missed so much while on tour. Ever had fillet mignon for breakfast? Steak and eggs, Old Lady McGavern-style. God truly blessed her with a gift for all that is culinary.

SHORT STRETCH, BUT MUCH TO TELL:

Yorba set me up with a twenty-something photographer. I think his name was Jared Ferret or something similar. He was a balding alcoholic with nothing better to do than trash the dressing rooms during our set every night. He never seemed to stay in his own hotel room, either. Dennis took a liking to that little jerk right away. The band would stay up late doing blow while Jared would grab the Bible and start replacing the word God with his own praenomina. We met up with him at the 40-Watt in Athens, GA. We were told, by the booking agent, that R.E.M. frequently plays this venue. The place is a shit hole without a decent shit hole. The backstage reeks of piss and hell and is decorated with no name band stickers. This one in particular made us all giggle like stubborn princesses. Apparently, somewhere in the peninsula of Florida there is a band that thought themselves celebrated enough to put every member of the band’s face on their sticker. If that wasn’t enough, the website was listed on the sticker. Dennis got on his laptop and we took a look at their site. Fucking check it out (hilarious). This blatant sense of delusion made me laugh for half an hour. I wish Dennis’ speakers would have been working. I wanted to hear those mp3s in the worst way. Comedy.

Something strange I noticed about the South. At every concert following the 40-Watt; one and only one person would have a request for songs by a band called the Petshop Boys. I’d never heard of them in my life. I downloaded some of their songs this morning to see what the hype was about. I can honestly say I was quite disturbed by the music and instrumentation, but in actuality, I’m quite fond of the lyrical content.

I’m even thinking of reworking some of their old songs and adding them to my catalogue.

I better get a move on and take Kayla and Mercedes to the matinee showing of that new movie with the genius babies. That’s cute.

CHIMES.
