so today at work... (i work in a jewelry store that focuses on handmade items for those who don't know)... we have these awesome pendants which are made in peru by indigenous people as part of one of those learn-a-craft-to-help-support-yourselves type programs. so i was showing one of the pendants to a customer today and telling her about how the proceeds from sales help the people of peru. and she replies with, "what do THEY need help for??" ... the best answer i could come up with was "uhhh. they're very very impoverished?" wtf people.
