it's better than sterling. it has more silver than sterling does (less than fine though, .970) and a couple other things which makes it extremely resistant to tarnish. it's also harder than sterling, and can be made even more hard with heat treatment, so it's also much more durable and doesn't scratch as much. it casts cleaner and holds a polish longer. it has no nickle in it, and so is much less likely to cause an allergic reaction and won't turn your finger black. IT DOES NOT FIRESCALE. and it only costs roughly 10-15 cents more an ounce than sterling. the only bad thing about it is it has a slightly lower melting temperature, so, using hard solder is trickier, but, even that's not a big deal (it's a difference of something like 60 degrees).
but hoover and strong doesn't seem to carry it :(:(:( either that or i'm retarded at using their website. either way though, I KRI. many moons. :(
Rio also carries it for small quantities in wire, flat stock and casting grain. But I think just the 925 version. Not sure where to get the 970 for casting, but I'm sure they would be happy to tell you.
whats so cool about it? will it walk my dog? because i'd get a dog if i had someone else to walk it.
