The Anti-Katsucon weekend
Well... not much new going on in the world of Lisa. This weekend was quiet but really really nice. I opted not to goto Katsucon as I had been planning on doing. Part of it was money, part of it was drama. So instead I stayed home and just relaxed.
I had the day off on Friday so I could take Keatsy to the vet. We did that around 11:00 and then went to Arbitron so all my co-workers could meet him. I think it's great that I work somewhere where they ask you to bring in your new pet b/c they want to meet him.
Friday night was pretty uneventful. Matt took Wallace to his mom's house since we were planning on leaving early Saturday morning to goto DC. It was so nice to have the peace and quiet... and for Matt to not have to get up in the middle of watching a movie / hanging out / etc. to go take the dogs out.
Saturday, plans were cancelled, mostly due to a late start and it being FREEZING cold. So James came over and he, Matt and I hung out and dorked out with video games all day. It was really nice to just veg. Then Nick and Lindsey came over and we all went to Fridays for dinner... and caught "Hide and Seek" at Muvico. It was an ok movie... I liked it a lot... and then Matt picked apart all of the plot holes in it. Dork.
We got back around midnight and hung out for a bit more before everyone went home. I was pretty tired as was Matt. Sunday was definately a total veg day. Matt went and got Wallace in the early evening, and I was anticipating totally hating having the house full of annoying animals again, but he wasn't bad at all. And he's really good at leaving Keatsy alone now. Matt sprays him in the face with a water bottle anytime he does something wrong now... and it's really funny b/c Wallace gets *so* incredibly pissed off. Keatsy and Thor play together a lot. Thor is actually the bigger of the two animals. Keatsy will hide behind a door and then come pouncing out and scare Thor. It's pretty cute.
So yeah. That was my weekend. Last night was especially nice. Matt and I just hung out, had a few drinks and played video games. It was very low key. It was a good end to the weekend. I was sad to have to get up and goto work today.
I'm really nervous about this whole "learning Java" thing. I haven't really made progress. I was denied Java training... which is dumb. If they want me to learn it... I feel like they should put me through training... or at least realize that I'm going to be slow about learning it. So I'm spending my eight hour work day plugging through Java books and trying to put it all together. It's stressful.
Well we just finished our 10am meeting... and I'm gonna head over to the other building now. It's really really hard for me to concentrate where I'm at now, b/c I'm at a big table with 5 other people... in an open area with 15... and everyone talks at the top of their lungs to be heard over everyone else.
