Due to the storm, my final for Monday at 8:00 (ironically Severe and Unusual Weather) was cancelled. My mother woke me up yesterday at 10:00 saying that a tree fell on Papa's car...they're pretty sure it's totaled, but if the frame isn't bent we'll see. This is when I realized I didn't have power. I went outside to make sure my car wasn't under a tree, even though I never park under them because of all those nasty birds pooping on the cars below. However, I'd forgotten that I'd gotten in late from Stillwater Saturday night, all the good spots were taken, and in fact my car was under a tree with a branch lightly touching the roof of my car. I managed to get into the passenger side in less than 5 minutes, where from inside I could kick the driver's side door open. I then backed my car out from under the tree and got out to scrape a teeny tiny patch of ice off the windshield so that I could see enough to move my car to a new spot. Then I went over to help my neighbor get her car out from under a different tree. Not 10 minutes after I moved my car, but huge parts of the tree fell rapidly onto the spot where my car was before.
After that little incident, I decided to gather my things to study, some laundry, my dog, and some spare clothes and call Papa to come get me with their one good car, so that I could stay at their house where they still had power leaving my little block of ice car at my apartment. I got there, unpacked, settled myself, started a load of laundry, and sat down to a bowl of tomato soup. Then half way through both my soup and my wash cycle, the power flickered 3 or 4 times, and then was gone. Once again without a place to study.
I'll write more later, but now I have to go study for my other finals.
