yeah but youre assuming that intellectual emotional etc development is cut in stone -- ie is genetically or bioligially determined and thus independent of socialization. i would argue that this girl is being challenged in the right ways and is speaknig like a 7 year old "should" and that most 7 year olds are kept in a state of extended ignorance (read: childhood) due to social pressures / privileges (ie.. we dont need them to be out birthing babies and working for a living until at lesat 10 yeas later).
have you seen born into brothels? those kids are 8, 9, 10, 11 and older (some younger) and live in fucking ghettos in mumbai, india and theyre mothers and fathers are drug addicats and or prostitutes / pimps. those kids are SMART. and they know what is up with power / privilege / justice and pain. and thry speak just as articulately as this little lady.
one other thing, i def agree that this girl has been influenced by her parents, but who isn't? just because youre 18 years old doesnt make you an independent thinker. or 30 for that matter,
maybe this child should be used as an example of why "intelligent" and "world-minded" people should home school their children? do you think this child would have been able to progresse the way that she has without home schooling?
im not sure if she should be held up as an example of homeschooling because she is so divisive. critics could undermine her by saying, look, 'she's obviously very smart but she was brainwashed -- this kind of closeminded thinking is antithetical to our entire system of public education in this country whereby you are exposed to many different viewpoints and learn to develop youre own sense of right wrong and otherwise.'
of course, they only say this because shes rocking the boat and lobbing accusations (albeit in a fairly doctrinaire fashion) to people in power. of course, to assume she wouldnt emerge from a public school system without some learned beliefs is stupid (or another way, to imagine she would come out of a public school system with a broad-minded, informed approach to life's social issues is just naive -- schools jsut don't have the resources to challenge young prodigies like this little lady.)
whats funny is bc schools cant satisfy her needs, im sure her parents would have taken a huge role in her education regardless. she probably would still be the same if shed gone to a normal school. maybe just more angry actually because she would have been frustrated by the bureaucracy of mediocrity. did any of that make sense? i just drnak some coke blak which is only available in france and is half coffee, half coke.
