Riding Lesson

Yesterday was amazing. There was some drama going on with one of Kate's workers, but that was just one small hitch that I wasn't even a part of. I ended up leaving work early due to a time screw up on Monday where I worked 4 and 1/2 hours, and so I only worked 3 and 1/2 yesterday.

I got to the barns around 2 and helped Kate and Kelly finish up the upper barns, then hung out until around 4, when I started tacking up Danny. I really like Max and I love riding him, but he was making me so frustrated. I wanted to ride Danny yesterday because I wanted to make sure it was just Max and not me, and that I could still ride.

The difference between when I used to ride Danny last winter and when I rode him yesterday was so large. Because of riding Max for a few lessons, I pushed Danny a lot more than I used to. I have better placing of my legs, and when I ask Danny to trot, he trots right away. When I rode him before, I had to use a whip in order to do it.

Once I got Danny trotting, Kate didn't say anything because I was able to do it so easily and doing it so well. For two whole trips around the ring (we were indoor due to the crazy wind and threating-looking rain clouds) she didn't say anything, and it was amazing.

We tried some other things, but I was pretty tired and just ended the lesson on a good note. I really want to get back on Max at some point, but right now I'm looking forward to learning how to ride better on a horse that isn't as much of the challenge, and then when I am more advanced, hop back on Max and try again.
