Cuddy thought she might know House too well.

So when she drove past his building she wasn't surprised to see his lights on, the shadow of the man moving slowly through the curtains. She pulled up behind his bike and sighed, it wasn't the money he'd wasted that annoyed her, but the fact that he'd chosen to say at home, alone, for two weeks.

He always cut himself off and it frustrated her no end.

She knocked on his door and when he answered she raised an eyebrow. He turned around and limped back to the sofa, falling onto it rather than sitting.

"For making me get up, you have to pay the delivery boy," he said.

She closed the door behind her and took her coat off. She lay it over the back of the sofa and sat next to him.

"What were you going to do?" she asked. "Tell us all how you have a nice time? Apologise for not bringing Wilson a present?"

"Do I strike you as the type of guy to buy presents?"

"You have on occasion."

"On vacation?"

"I've never known you to go on a vacation."

"And the tradition continues."

"House!" she said exasperated.

"I'll pay you back for the tickets."

"It's not the money that bothers me."

"Oh good, because I don't have any."

"I just wanted you to relax and enjoy yourself for once in your miserable life."

"A blow job is twice as good and half the price."

"I'll remember that next time."

"My birthday's coming up."

She rolled her eyes, a gestured he missed when the door bell rang and he whipped his head round to look.

"Staying for dinner?" he asked.

"I thought you took two weeks off to be alone," she said getting up.

"Not necessarily. Wilson knows I'm home."

"Of course he does," she muttered, fishing her purse from her coat.

"Are you staying for dinner?" he asked again.

"Well, I am paying."

"Good."

"Sometimes House," she said, "sometimes I don't know you at all."

That's okay. Neither do I."

She laughed and went to pay for the delivery.
