been a relaxing two months, i suppose

Not much has been going on.  I'm still a mayor.  I'm still working to be governor.  I'm still not being taken seriously, though I suppose it's even worse now that I've expressed my neutral (or rather indifferent) views on communism.  Some bully young statesman actually called me something along the lines of a "spineless, uninspiring public display of blobishness."  Hah.

I don't know what he wants from me, but I'm not too worried.  If he's looking for a James Bond fairytale, maybe he should try the intelligence agencies up on Capitol Hill.  Communism is the least of my worries right now, because any minute now, I expect Earnie to burst into my office and demand that I fire Janie.

They went to a fundraising dinner for me, y'see, and he hasn't ever been to one of those without some form of infidelity.  I don't know if Sarah knows or if she even wants to know.  When she was in the hospital, I was so sure Earnie was over this childish obsession he's got for pretty women, but now she's healthy, it's back with a vengence.  Even Janie (who is engaged, y'know) can't escape.

I guess controlling my staff shouldn't be the top of my priorities, but with an election around the corner, there's no telling what the Republicans are going to say about my hoards of former secretaries.  I've got tons of public works projects on the way, but there's not much I can do without the power that comes with the office, and there's no way in hell I'm gonna get that office if they start accusing me of frivolity.

It's not about the real issues on the table anymore.  Leastwise, that's what Earnie's been telling me, and he usually knows.  It's about communism and scandal, and I seem to have stumbled upon both at the same time.  I've got to stop writing things down... starting now.

Good luck to the Governor in the Senatorial elections.

(Olivia:  Ruby is fine staying with Earnie.  I can't believe you're okay with her flying back home alone, though.  Let me know if I should come with her, and I will get myself a ticket.)
