rusty_chevy mentioned before that her brother said we need to get a table next BotCon for Transformers-themed jewelry. Of course, this has the wheels in my head turning.
Looking at last year's prices, a booth was $300 for one badge, so an additional badge would have to be purchased for $75, or if the other person was interested in toys, they could just get a Primus package for $250, let the other person do all the set-up early in the day, and just help run the booth. (Unless the box set includes Coneheads, the tech trine, or Smokescreen, I'll probably not be interested. Sure wasn't at the 2008 con.) Obviously it would be cheaper to get the table and additional badge and just split the price, if neither of us would be interested in the toys.
Now some questions: would we manage to sell enough stuff to make it worth it? Between now and then, can we MAKE enough stuff to make it worth it? And what sort of things would and wouldn't be allowed, in Hasbro's eyes? The stuff
rusty_chevy's made doesn't have faction symbols on it, and people sell buttons with character pictures and the like on them with little trouble. How far could we go before Hasbro might throw a fit?
My other problem is, I intend to be dressed as Unicron so I'd probably be mostly useless as a vendor about 80% of the time, just like most BotCons, though a tired cosplayer at a booth tends to draw attention. I'm reasonably certain I have influenced a sale or two at Wayward's booth in the past just because I was there, mostly passed out, whilst the Bee made her rounds. I could be persuaded to only cosplay Saturday, or just run the booth without my wings on (I'm going to have a wicked wingspan.)
Thoughts? Ideas? Am I thinking too hard and need to just go to bed? XD
Three AM edit: You know, if we *did* do this, we could also do what most independent stores do and offer items made by other folks for even more variety. I can imagine
raisedbymoogles crocheting various items, for example. Hmm.
