1. What did you do in 2012 that you'd never done before?
Drunk banana milkshake. It was on discount and I actually bought it thinking it was Honeycomb flavour without bothering to read the carton. I doubt it's ever seen a banana to be honest so is therefore quite palatable. Also saw Livvy live! :-)
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn't make one or any. I don't do resolutions.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not that I can think of.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
A close friend's mother died in the wee hours of Boxing Day. I was in the room at the time. The so-called festive season (and holiday from work) has been spent dealing with organising the funeral, cleaning out the room, etc.
5. What countries did you visit?
Just Australia. Actually I'm trying to think whether I made it out of Victoria...to which I think the answer is no. It's easy to forget that Victoria, though relatively small when looked at as a state in a country, is actually the size of Blighty. Nevertheless, Must Do Better Next Year. I am being "ordered" to take most of my accrued leave off in the next six months so, hmmm, New Zealand maybe?
6. What would you like to have in 2013 that you lacked in 2012?
To be happier and feel less on the brink.
7. What date from 2012 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Not having a nervous breakdown in March/April. Not quitting my job before finding a replacement (still in progress). Finally finishing the stupid Cert IV in Training & Assessment. Learning a fair amount of Bosnian/Serbian so I can pull expressions out in appropriate moments.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not believing in myself enough or perhaps taking things too seriously..
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
A two week cold/flu which knocked me out. Depression. The very occasional migraine. And a little tummy bug a couple of days ago.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Not the banana milkshake I've just drunk. Erm, probably Prince tickets.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Anyone involved in the Olympics and Paralympics. And of course Skippy the Cat who is still an endless source of pleasure and amusement.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Where to start? Oh, the UK government's as per for one.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Other than rent, concert tickets. This year - Roxette, Olivia Newton-John, Duran Duran, Prince, Melissa Etheridge, Emmylou Harris; to come Joan Armatrading, Carole King, Status Quo and Shawn Colvin. Not exactly finger on the pulse stuff, but sod that, I hit the big F-0 in October.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Getting Prince tickets. The website went down due to demand.

Anything from "MDNA" I guess. According to my last.fm charts, the artists I listened to the most this year were 1) Madonna, 2) Duran Duran, and 3) The Stranglers.

Examiner re-certification success.
29. What did you want and not get?

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was in withdrawal after forgetting to take my anti-depressants with me on hols to Lakes Entrance (got it sorted out later that day) and got told off for riding around on the kids bikes where I was staying, before being told off by a 7-year old for not wearing a helmet. I was 40. :-)
