Dave's Office Dinner Party

Color me surprised. It actually went pretty well. We went to Sonny William's down in the River Market area of downtown Little Rock. Very posh for Little Rock, but not to fancy. We'd been there two years ago and I wasn't much impressed then. But they don't let me pick where we go, so... eh.

In general, I don't have much in common with the people Dave works with, and it used to be quite a small team. Its grown some and that helps. And I was seated next to a "story teller" kind of person, so that helped as well. 3 glasses of white wine might have helped a bit too. lol. Appetizers for the table were ordered, which were very good. I'd never seen calamari that big before, but they actually looked well prepared and not like it was going to rush back to the sea anytime soon, so I gave it a try. Very nice. The Crab Cakes were delish. Large lump crab meat in a very good mix. I didn't try the shrimp since I think I am developing an allergy. Every time I eat some I get a headache. But they where huge and it was shrimp cocktail, which is not my favorite anyway, so no big loss.

For dinner I had French Onion Soup, a 6oz Fillet, Butterflied with garlic mashed potatoes, and green beans.  It was all excellent.  Well I don't know about the green beans... I didn't eat them.  Not a fan. lol.  For dessert, I had bread pudding in whiskey sauce. This was fabulous.  Very good...

It ended up being about a 3 hour meal.  I was pleasantly surprised it wasn't horrible and didn't feel talked down too as I have in years past.  I am still bothered by the fact that Dave's boss could pass for his father's twin.  It's crazy!

Today, Devin and I are off to Fayetteville area for an overnight.  She to visit her girl friend, me to visit my friend Melissa and to finish up some shopping of the Christmas kind.  Stockings mostly.
