So I've been looking up old friends from high school and thinking about the friends I have here in college now. Of the 13 friends I found from high school, five of them already have babies. Now these people used to be my friends and I appreciate them and all, but it seems like the ones who got knocked up were the less intelligent ones in the bunch

Totally - people shouldn't have kids till they're ready, but it's silly to say people who do have kids are stupid for making that choice.

well then perhaps I should have mentioned that none of the pregnancies were intentional, thus yes my old acquaintances are not the most enlightened. It is unwise however to also make the choice of bringing children into the world when one is incapable of supporting themselves let alone a child. So there is an exception to everything obviously.

I feel the need to say that no one is attacking you, Val, since you seem defensive. I'm happy for you and your family. As you have said, you were ready, you were out of school, and you had a supportive partner. You're one of the smarter mommies out there, most of the people I know who got knocked up though were not that intelligent. Several had already had abortions and so on and so forth and just could not make good decisions for themselves.
