Yunho looked out the tinted window of the car. This was the eleventh place they checked out.

“Looks nice guys”, their manager exclaimed, looking out the passenger’s side window.

Yunho turned to his left, throwing a questioning look at Changmin who only shrugged. He was chosen to accompany Yunho in the search for a new place; his intelligence and alertness ready to pick out any defects the leader might have overlooked.

The older of the two members got down from the car with a yawn and stretched his jean-clad legs. He was cranky and bored from looking at house after house while Changmin found several flaws in every single one of them. To Yunho a house was just a house, nothing special about it. Jaejoong should’ve come instead, he would have enjoyed it.

“I think you’ll like this one”, the real estate agent commented with a forced smile. He must have been as fed up as they were.

In front of them stood a white house with an inclined lawn that progressively raised until it reached the front porch. The porch had a swinging chair made of dark wood on the right and the door was beautifully carved in the same wood as the chair. The windows on the left seemed to be from the kitchen, or at least that was what Yunho thought, judging by the corny print on the small curtains. ‘Jaejoong is going to hate them’ he thought again proving in his mind that the lead singer would be better fitted for this job. But in the end he was the leader and he had to see to this kind of matters.

“Hyung!” he was shaken out of his thoughts by Changmin, who was already a few steps ahead, already having walked halfway of the paved path that lead from the sidewalk to the entrance of the house.

“You coming?” Changmin nodded towards the house and kept walking, Yunho following seconds later.

The interior of the house was lovely. The entrance hall wasn’t anything special; just a narrow passage leading to an equally narrow staircase. To their left was a door leading to the kitchen. The door had a big window in the middle of it from where they could see the inside of the adjacent space. To the left there was an opening that seemed to be the entrance to the living room but the agent entered the kitchen first, and they had to follow.

The kitchen was a good size, with gray marble counters and wooden cupboards. The refrigerator was bigger than the one they had at their apartment and Changmin was trying to fight off his smile. Yunho noticed the ugly curtains hanging above the sink, which faced the window. He was right afterall. To the right of the kitchen door was a round table with four chairs.

“You’ll have to buy another one but I’m sure that won’t be a problem”, the manager told them as they were exiting the kitchen area.

Yunho was already heading towards the room he noticed earlier when the agent stopped him. He wanted to save that room for last. Yunho shrugged and followed the agent and his manager towards the staircase, Changmin tailing behind. They climbed step after step of the wooden staircase, finding some of them squeaky.

“It needs a couple of repairs”, Changmin muttered and Yunho nodded.

“But for the price is well worth it”, the agent replied.

On the second floor there were four bedrooms, two bathrooms and an office. Yunho had no problem with the number of rooms but Changmin groaned mentally. He was the youngest and would probably be made to share with Junsu. The office faced the back of the house and had a huge window through where they saw the house faced the river.

“It has a lovely view, perfect to rid the mind and body of the stress of work”, the agent said his practiced speech. It was breath-taking Yunho agreed, and decided they could turn this room into their music room without too much hassle. At the end of the slanting terrain, tied to two strong trees he noticed something.

“Is that a boat house?”

“Yes, though it’s old and has no canoes or paddle boats. You could use it for storage though”, the agent replied, giving no real importance to the floating construction.

Having seen most of the second floor they went back downstairs. Yunho could feel a small flow of excitement when he realized they were going to see the room he was so curious about.

He was not to be disappointed. When the agent finally allowed them to enter, they gasped. The room had several leather couches in a rich chocolate color surrounding a cozy chimney. On one corner stood a huge plasma TV and next to it there were sliding doors made up of small, squared windows in a wooden frame. The doors led to the backyard which faced the river but what really made it for them was the grand piano opposite from the door. ‘Yoochun is going to love it’, Yunho thought as he played a couple of keys with loose fingers.

However, the house, as fantastic as it seemed, was lacking one thing to make it perfect. The most important thing they were searching for: storage space. Yunho was kindly thanking and apologizing to the agent when the later shook his head before Yunho could finish talking.

“There’s still more”

Yunho frowned in confusion. Hadn’t they seen all the rooms in the house already? The agent asked them to follow him outside. They walked a couple of meters to the garage (which they hadn’t noticed earlier) and the agent opened the mechanic door with a remote. There was nothing inside except for a few hooks and pegs from which to hang tools, but there was also a door towards the back, next to the one that lead directly into the house.

The agent took out some keys and opened the door. There was a switch at the beginning of what looked like a stone staircase, which the agent turned on. Yellow light flooded the narrow steps and he went down, motioning the other three men to follow him. It seemed the house had a pretty big basement for them to fill up with all their stuff.

Yunho turned to his manager who made a face and asked them if they wouldn’t prefer having an apartment and then to Changmin, who nodded, finding no irreparable flaws in the house and actually kind of liking it.

“We’d like to keep this house”, he told the agent, much to his manager’s unhappiness. He thought a house was much too risky for well-known stars like them but an apartment would forever fail to satisfy their need for storage space.

The agent was so excited he couldn’t stop blabbering; talking about signing papers and the best house repair companies, but Yunho was not listening. Instead, his eyes were locked in an object lying in the corner or the basement. He went to pick it up and realized it was a dirty rag doll. It had button eyes and a pretty, but dirtied pink dress as well as ballerina shoes. Its hair made of thread hung limply as Yunho held it.

“How did this get here?”, he wondered out-loud.

“I have no idea Yunho-sshi. Only I have the keys and the previous owners didn’t have any children, but if you want I can dispose of it for you …” the agent hadn’t finished talking when Yunho announced, “No, I want to keep it. Maybe someone comes looking for it”.

The agent let him keep the doll and the deal was made. The agent agreed to send the paperwork to them the next day so they could sign it and he would give them the keys once the papers were signed. The manager, Yunho and Changmin shook hands with the agent and got into the car.

The ride home was silent as Yunho thumbed the doll’s button eyes.
