James 2: 14-20
Faith without Good Deeds Is Dead

14What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? 15Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, 16and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”-but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?
17So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.

18Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.”

19You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God.f Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. 20How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?

I wanted to reference this because after my meet up with the Mingei members at the open house, I took some sandwiches and I took back my hummus and chips. I originally thought of bringing it home to eat or share with my sister but it was then when I decided to go to The Rock Church because I really wanted to worship, I remembered there's always this guy that sat at the corner of the street. I was relieved to see he was still there because sometimes he would leave early. I went up to him, asked how he was doing, told him I thought of him and wanted to give him my bag of food. His name is Steve and he was smiling ear to ear and said God Bless.

I always wanted to either give him money or food but I guess I was reluctant to because it felt awkward or that I would tell myself, next time. But finally there was an opportunity. Faith and action definitely goes hand in hand.
