Christmas Wishlist
Yes, I know it's only five days until Christmas, but I have such trouble asking for things, posting this is an accomplishment at any time. Plus I took the time to write it, so I don't want to waste it.
My Wishlist 2011
Step One:
* Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related, medium, to really big (see my #1) The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
* If you wish for real life things (not stories or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
* Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two:
Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
* If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use-or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free-do it.
* You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf-to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not-it's your call.
* There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
(note, for my birthday I asked for nothing, and I really don't need much, except irl hugs and someone to vent to from time to time, but at the same time, I don't ask for things, and I need to, so here it is. You can contact me by PM, or twitter, or by chance, email if you already have it))
1. A bass clarinet. This is the one impossible on my list, because the one I want is $7000, but I might as well dream big, right? While we're at it, my student loans paid off and a real teaching job would be nice :D
2. Earrings. I love funky earrings of all kinds, and I have to stop myself buying all of them I see. (Chunky bracelets as well. Offbeat jewelry in general)
3. iTunes/Amazon gift cards, because my wishlists are insane, and even though I know I can't watch/listen to all the things, I'm going to damn well try.
4. Fics. I know I'm terrible about writing fics for people (sorry Nury, Andrea. I'm trying, really.) But I forgot to sign up for Yuletide and kradam_holidays, so there we go. Any fandom (AI, Sherlock, TSN, if someone could write me some Sheriff/David (Charming) from Once Upon a Time….)
5. That said, I'd love to have a cheerleader. I think I'm ok in the beta department, even though I have major issues asking for even their help (I know) I've been really bad about opening a Word doc and writing three words before getting disgusted with myself and walking away. I've done okay in the Sherlock challenge/ljidol because there are deadlines and stuff,. What I need is someone to tell me to go write whenever they see me commenting on LJ/Twitter/whatever
6. Vacation ideas. I'm on a very limited budget, but I really need to get out of my house for my next vacation and I don't want to just go down the street to a hotel or something, because that is really self-defeating, and I need to interact with people. So any thoughts on what I can do would be greatly appreciated. (I know for sure Im taking the first week of April off, and probably time around my birthday in June. We should all find somewhere to go to celebrate my 30th)
7. Go fill out this poll. I really really want this to work, because even though the cause isn't near and dear to me, it's near and dear to someone near and dear to me (ish). http://poppetawoppet.livejournal.com/79121.html. (That said, participate when I hold it.)
8. Music recs/music. Even though my wishlist is insane, I'm always on the lookout for new things, so any recs in any genre are acceptable. B-sides are especially welcome. Also if anyone can point me to artists who have LPs, that would be awesome, b/c I love vinyl, and I'd love to have newer music on vinyl. (I have DCook of course lol)
9. Surprises. Because I do a lot of the driving in my house, I tend to see a lot of gifts, etc. Plus with having no close irl friends, I don't have a lot of surprises in my life. So idk, surprise me with something. Make me an awesome video, send me a funny macro, but do it randomly, b/c my little heart needs more random in her life.
10. A David Cook/Kris Allen concert. (Well I started with the impossible, so I might as well end that way.) Actually tbh, more opportunities for me to get out of my house that I can't resist, but don't cost a lot of money. A car that isn't ready to die on me. DCook to use a word out of the book I gave him. Kris's new album right now. The courage to say what I want and need rather than just go with the flow.
