Oh wow this is sad...i haven't updated this thing since Feb.! But I got the urge to post after spending some time with Debbie. We were talking about some of our favorite foods and I told her just how much I was craving for the classic filipino "street food" called Ta-ho. Its actually something we inherited from the Chinese. Its made from soy milk that is somehow made semi-curdled or semi-firm. Then this mixed is eaten with tapioca balls and caramelized sugar.

I had tried to make Taho from a recipe I found on the internet but I only succeeded in burning the soy milk :-( To my surprise and disbelief, Debbie said that for years, Jack's (a local asian store) had been selling a tofu powder mix that sounded pretty much like what I wanted!! So I'm going to check it out tomorrow.

This is how Taho looks like and how it is sold in the streets. THe man shouts out "Ta hoooooo"! repeatedly. Sadly, you don't see much of these guys any longer as in recent years, this kind of soy uuhhmm drink/food have been readily available at the local supermarket (they come is lots of flavors!). The Taho sold on the streets are unflavored...and I think its the best!

Of course I must include a picture of Erik...this one was taken end of July:
