Meme - 5 questions

Respond in the comments with the words ‘Surf’s Up’, I will give you five questions of your own for you to answer.

Questions from the wonderful sgamadison

1.
If you were trapped in a Groundhog Day loop, what are the things you would work on? (Besides writing, which you already mentioned :-)
Fannish things, really. Anything that requires a teacher wouldn't work, since when the day restarted they'd simply teach me the same lesson over again. But I'd love to learn how to make fanvids, to become better at photoshop. I'd like to learn more about HTML and CSS - coding my own LJ layout would be great. Mostly though, I'd like to improve my writing.

2.
What's the most difficult thing that you've ever accomplished? What's the one thing you've accomplished that gave you the most satisfaction? Are they the same?
I'm going to go with personally difficult. The first time I flew in an airplane, I was by myself. I had a layover to the Chicago O'Hare airport, and I have no sense of direction - I am John Sheppard on the ground. I was alone, scared I was going to miss my plane, get pulled out of line at security, worried how I'd get home if I was stranded, etc. but I managed to navigate my way through that GIANT airport to my gate (which was on the opposite side of where I was). I've never been so nervous, scared, and proud.

3. What frightens you more: the idea of being dropped into a desert environment or an arctic one? Which do you think you'd be most likely to survive?
Being dropped into a desert environment. I know a *tiny* bit more about surviving in a freezing environment than I do a dangerously hot one. I'm by no means trained to survive in either, but I think an arctic one would be easier. Get out of the wind, find shelter, etc.I hear extreme hypothermia is like going to sleep, which would be preferable than dying of dehydration/thirst.

4. Of all the places you 'hang out' online, which would be the hardest to give up?
Archive of our own. Most fic is being posted (or cross posted) there nowadays. I spend so much time online because I read fanfiction so much. Without it, I'd have so much less to do - there'd be no point in staying online. If you're talking more about a social platform, I'm assuming LJ counts. Fic is posted here. LJ has an easier form of communication than tumblr, and as much as I'd miss tumblr, I would mis LJ even more.

5.
You have a choice between spending ten minutes with John Sheppard--in which you can do ANYTHING you want--or an hour with Rodney McKay, in which you are only allowed to talk. Which would you choose, and why?
I was surprisingly torn by this :) My first thought was, "Ten minutes with John Sheppard to do anything? Oh, the possibilities *wink*" But whether you think John is completely gay, or bisexual with a STRONG leaning toward men (he did seem pretty enthusiastic about Chaya), John Sheppard wouldn't want to do anything with me anyway :P (The shippy part of me insists it's because he loves Rodney.) Besides, Rodney is my favorite, and even if it's just listening to him complain or expound on his genius, I'd like to spend ten minutes just watching him talk. The movement of his hands, the bright blue of his eyes, his quick grins and his enthusiasm for all topics, even the things he hates.
