Walken 2008

I'd heard that Christopher Walken was running for President in 2008, possibly as an independent and a write-in candidate. Of course, I've considered that this may be hoax, and I would never sign on anything I thought was in poor faith or poor taste. I supported Dean in 2004, despite a few disagreements, and respected him more for the hollering. (Seriously, am I the only one who didn't think he was making a fool of himself? I thought anyone who could get that pumped deserved my vote. I was hugely disappointed that Kerry got the nomination. Hugely.) So naturally, I was a bit skeptical. Until I read this:

It's exactly what it looks like: Christopher Walken's running platform. It's simple, yes. But it is positively unimpeachable. I do not see any concievable reason anyone could disagree with his principles. None at all. Even (and this is a hot-button issue with me) on gun control. I believe Walken is the first man in my lifetime to find a reasonable and sensible middle ground on every important issue. (I'm excepting homosexual marriage, but as it is such an incindiary issue with neither side willing to compromise, I think it would be best handled on a state level for now. And I think that's how it should go with all incindiary issues: State's rights, then federal mandate once enough States have ratified similar legislation.)

Again, I believe that Walken's platform is completely unimpeachable.

Now, of course you're saying, "But he's an actor and has no experience with the law!"

And I say, "So? That's what the cabinet is for."

It's not like our current . . . you get the idea.

Walken's got this great quote on his home page, located in the upper right-hand corner. It says, "If you want learn how to build a house, build a house. Don't ask anybody; just build a house." Precisely, I think. Have you ever honestly and sincerely learned anything (and I mean really, significantly learned in your surest place of surety) without having done or experienced it firsthand? I haven't. And I haven't seen anybody else do it either. Walken has the healthiest attitude toward politics that I've ever seen. Perhaps voting for him will be throwing away my vote. Perhaps it will only help those who I don't wish to win ascend to Presidency, but I refuse to give something which means so much to someone I don't agree with.

I'd say I agree with Walken, but that might imply that I molded my personal views to fit his. I haven't. This is how I've felt all along, and I now have a candidate I can whole-heartedly support.

But I could have sworn he was 83 instead of 62.

No matter. IMDb confirms it.

I'm going to spam all of the people on my email list with this as well. Sorry if this means you get hit twice.
