Long time, eh?

Well, kind of.

Here's an update:

It's cold. Still. I feel like a damn snowman when I go outside sometimes. And from what I hear, this isn't even bad! I catch myself thinking, "This 35° is kinda warm. Whoo! FEELS LIKE SUMMER!" And then I want to grab the 3rd rail on the L. I also still can't believe it's been a year since I moved up here. To Chicago. Let me say it again, so it sinks in.

I. Live. In. Chicago. FUCK THAT SOUNDS GREAT! I've never felt this way about a place before...it's weird. Austin was an OK place to visit, but if I moved there, I'd be tired of the bums, and after about a week of 6th street I'd wonder where the rest of the town was. San Antonio...just...no. But Chicago...now THERE'S a place I can feel proud to be from! Take for example: When I went back to San Antonio for Thanksgiving, it felt so...small potatoes. Like the country. Like the middle of nowhere. Like the end of the universe. Burroughs was wrong by about 400 miles. (It's in San Antonio)

But where was I? Oh yes, Chicago. It's like, you don't know how awesomely lazy you can be when you can call in anything. Food, especially. Sunday was the first time I've cooked in a LONG time. But it's great.

But if you can't get to an equally urban living space, you can make your own laughing gas here . It even has illustrations!

Also, Amber's going to go through some pretty intense surgery pretty soon, so I'll have to make sure she gets through recovery in one piece. Which is fine by me! I'll have to take half days at work (oh no!) and hang out with her to take care of her, being that she'll be pretty whacked out on painkillers. Which is also fine by me. The half days. Not so much the pain killers.

I've also started reading Alien Loves Predator. It's the most hilariousest thing I've come across in a while. It's a situational web comic. Except instead of Jerry and George, you have an Alien and a Predator. And Jesus. And Speed dating. And lots of your mom jokes.

Here's my favorite one:

See? Isn't that the funniest shit ever?

In related news, we've (as in Amber and I) been buying a bunch of music shit on eBay. Well, kinda. Amber bought the awesomest guitar EVAR at Guitar Center. It's a Yamaha RGX A2. Check it out - -

THAT IS THE DAMN COOLEST GUITAR IN THE WORLD

Also, she scored herself a BOSS MT-2 and we got a halfways working Electro-Harmonix Small Stone. The bad part of the Small Stone is...I've been wanting one for a LONG time, and I was excited to get it, but it doesn't work! Well, it works, but only when the effect is on. So the seller is going to send us the AC adapter free! I almost have the sweet pedal collection I want! But not quite...just a little more work. I still want a digital delay, a DOD Gonkulator Ring Modulator, and BOSS FZ-2 Fuzz. I'd also like to get Amber a few pedals, maybe a phaser and a chorus. Possibly an Accoustic Simulator. I'd like it if her guitar were able to make different sounds than mine. Then we could get a cool sound-scape-texture going. Also, we need a microKORG. Vocoders + guitars = YES.

Speaking of, there's a new website coming soon. It's in my head, but it's coming. Soon. Hopefully.

On that note, here's what music I've been digging recently:

Khanate - Things Viral
Genghis Tron - Cloak of Love EP
Primal Scream - XTRMNTR
Medeski, Martin & Wood - Live at Tonic
Team Sleep - Team Sleep
Goon Moon - I Got a Brand New Egg Layin' Machine
Excepter - KA
the Faint - Blank-Wave Arcade
