Captain, there's something I think you should see down here.
I'm in a funk. I've even discovered that I may be the only person in fandom who doesn't care about Dexter. I was actually trying it for my brother, who is obsessed with the show and has freaked out my mother by making her watch it and saying things like, "I feel Dexter teaches me valuable life lessons." and "I bought Dexter's T-shirt." (None of you can say anything, because I know a number of you own black Club Monaco T-shirts.)
The other thing I've been watching, with much more success, is old TNG. I almost made a long post this morning along the lines of "Twenty years later, can we reevaluate Counselor Troi?" but I think I may need to sit on it for another five years before it fully takes shape.
(Yes, it is supremely annoying that the only two female characters to last the whole show were both in "caretaking" professions [...we must remember that there was a time people still thought this about doctors] and there's the jumpsuits and the eyes brimming over with tears...well, OK. I will just say: to the extent that it often feels like the writers were making up stuff for Troi to do, I'm growing to appreciate that they bothered. A Chat With Troi tends to become a clunky device for explaining that these characters do have emotional lives, but...hey, these characters have emotional lives and Troi has a job, however ill-defined it is and however giggle-inducing her performance of it can be, and you actually sense that the PTB do kind of think that Troi's job sometimes matters.)
((I am also listening to old Britney Spears albums. Depression regression?))
The Wait Outdoors
I know you have all been talking about this alleged "snow" that exists, but I'm beginning to suspect an international hoax the likes of which has never been seen before.
