1.02 Parallax
-It's not a grand vision or anything, but there are not many episodes of TV shows about how science brings two women together, and this is one of them.
-On the other hand, later canon has Paris majoring in astrophysics, and yet here he needs a For Dummies lecture on the quantum mechanics of singularities. Surreptitiously trying to build bridges between Janeway and Torres, or really bad student? You be the judge.
-Lieutenant Carey! First mention of the Delaney sisters! Aww. Voyager was pretty good about giving us these bits of recurrent canon.
-Wouldn't Torres have to be one of the youngest chief engineers of a starship ever? She's, what, 22 or 23 here? She must have done nothing but study all through her miserable childhood and adolescence.
1.03 Time and Again
-Brief summary: Ooh, what's this? A reset button? You don't say. How many times could we push THAT over the course of seven seasons?
-I still like this episode, though. I think it may be the wacky outfits. And also the early introduction to Tom vs. the Prime Directive. Because, seriously, the Prime Directive is such crap.
-Ep also features very early indications of the relationship that's going to come between Tuvok and Kes. I guess there is a good dose of groundwork here. Too bad they, you know, erased it.
