Why I'm voting NDP....

*enters the political arena*
In a previous rant over the Governmental idiocy that we endure daily in this country.. I stated that I was voting NDP.. since that time I have watched the 2 hour televised debate, kept my ear to the ground to see what these parties were really backing and why.. and while you'd have to essentially torture the hell out of me to get me to vote Liberal.. I was somewhere between NDP and Conservative until Saturday.. then a simple little phonecall changed everything.

Saturday afternoon, while I was out, I picked up a voicemail from the Conservative Party of Canada inviting me to the Round-Up Centre on the Stampede grounds, admission was free, as is parking.  One catch.. my number's unlisted, and private.  So I get on the phone and say "Hey, why are you making unsolicited calls to my number which is private and unlisted."  It went a little something like this:

*after exchanging a few pleasantries to begin the call....*

Myself: "Well, I don't appreciate unsolicited calls inviting me to something I have no intention in attending given that my number is private."
Representative that answered: "So what do you expect me to do about it?"
Myself: "Maybe it would be an idea to limit these calls to those who actually want it.  Those directly involved with your party, those who volunteer, those who campaign for you, those who fully support you?"
Representative: "Well, that's your problem."
Myself: "Until now, I was undecided, so I'd like to thank you for taking the time and helping me decide who I'm going to vote for."
Representative: "And who would that be?"
Myself: "Well, I don't agree with what the Liberals have done during their reign, the sponsorship scandal was the final straw.  I had questions about your party, but those have since been answered, so.. who does that leave?"
Representative: "*snotty tone* Oh, the NDP?"
Myself: "Correct.  And I have you to thank for helping swing this undecided vote away from the Conservative party."
Representative: "Again, that's your problem."
Myself: "I'll be sure to share that with the great number of undecideds that I know how this call went,  as well as letting those who will listen know how indifferent you and your party are to the individual voter(s) out there."
Representative: "Go fuck yourself. *hangs up forcefully*"

On Sunday, I called the same number back (the main toll-free number listed on the website of the Conservative party) and was told by this guy's supervisor that I was full of it and that it never happened.. and to "Piss off!"  Yeah.. like *I* have nothing better to do than phone up and harass the Conservative party at 11:00 Sunday morning on the day before the national election.. *rolls eyes*  Riiiiight..

While writing this I've called my Conservative MP from my riding and have told his office what's going on.. they're all over this like you wouldn't believe and have called me back twice for more information and they're going to track this down.. and they're also going to let the MP himself know and look further into this... they're very apologetic, so.. we'll see just how good they are to me.. lead them to believe that they might win my vote even though I think Harper would be worse than an outbreak of Smallpox for this country.. I've always liked my MP for Calgary Northeast and he's always done a real good job up there.. however.. after all this.. despite the ads to "Think twice.  Vote once."  I'm going to have to think twice, and vote twice.  Once against the Liberals and once against the Conservatives.

If you don't vote, you don't have the right to bitch.. I'm voting today, so now.. I bitch today.. :)

That's what you get for telling me to go fuck myself. :)
