pretzelcoatl just issued a Pretzel Snake God command for me to "Post moar" and karnythia and her minions are calling for voice posts.
I guess it's a good thing I have one of these winging my way even as we speak. I am an adult, and I deserve an adult glass phone. (The old one was tragic. Ask hnmic. Or thegreenyear.)
I'm donating to Haiti through the law school's fundraisers. There's a new thisweekinblack (which I just updated with the two most recent videos) and props to Elon James White for continuing to banner-broadcast the Haiti relief effort. (And for continuing to make videos on something approaching a schedule. We need to get him to Memphis.) In news of People Who Got Their Just Comeuppance, the second idiot in this post, who was fired like this. And this, which is simultaneously terrifying, hilarious, and cutting-edge retro. (Also and forever - shut up, Michelle Malkin...I sincerely doubt the Senator is anything like what these Fine Upstanding Young Men were before they got there have "become".)
Tomorrow I have a freezing-rain school cancellation day to catch up all this legal methods I've been slacking on. All of my textbooks are at school, so I hope it's not too filthy to roll downtown at some point, but most of what I need is online. Maybe I can even get some paid work done.
Friend of the Pope yuki_onna's fantastico poetry collection Apocrypha is the subject of this week's book_pimp. There are lots of things you can do, all neatly laid out for you in the post, which do not for the most part involve the expenditure of money (although you should expend money on this if you have it to expend because it, and brilliant stunner-of-Beagles Catherynne M. Valente, are awesome.) It would also be totally awesome for someone to review over at Powell's as well as Amazon, which b_p focuses on. I will. Edited to add: for you, a skeleton list of awesome poetry.
Further, if there are any voting SFWA members on my flist, my non-voting vote rests with Fairyland for the Andre Norton Award.
Also good in my world? s00j and omnisti and a whole mess of our musical friends and train family coming to St. Louis in October. (Think you might want to be there? Click the link and RSVP, even if you're a 'maybe'.) Follow the circus with the drawl. Cowboy Mouth in Birmingham in February. Ani Difranco at the New Daisy in April, just in time for DOM and thegreenyear's birthday. Have discovered that I like bubble tea and light rail. I also found a newly uploaded 2001 Butchies performance from Chicago that is my absolute new favorite old thing. 99% certainty that myself and maatwomyn will be at wiscon with hps_sterling. Lots of small delights and future win in my world, even if the moment is a morass of catching up from a couple of weeks of sickness and ennui.
