Music Meme, DO-OVER from yesterday

Day 26: Your favourite music video.
I had trouble with this one yesterday because I could not find the videos I wanted. It dawned on me I could just tell you and who knows, maybe you know which ones I am referring to.

I'm really fond of the early 70's rock video in general because many of the men have long hair and side-burns were stylish. Plus, I like that kind of music. So that early prog. rock or hard rock is up my alley.

In the early 80's Stevie Ray Vaughan had a video for his hit "Pride and Joy" and it got a lot of playtime on MuchMusic because not only did it have totally freaking awesome guitar licks, it was also hilarious. It was full of sarcasm and over-the top violence against Vaughan by his GF except he was obviously and hilariously replaced by a ragdoll in the ultra-violent scenes (like being thrown off a cliff or run over by a buss). If I saw it now, I might not be as fond of it as I once was but back in the 80's I thought it was the funniest video ever.

I'm also really fond of mash-ups. One of the very first mash-ups I ever heard was Dean Gray's "Dr. Who on Holiday". It's a mashup up of Green day and KLF and the video I saw was a good mix of Green day and a bit of Dr. Who but the only videos I could find on YouTube were more recent ones that are all Dr. Who or venue settings.

I have to mention the movie Interstella 5555 which is literally one super-long anime music video done to Daft Punk music. The story is quite good and the style, no dialogue at all, is really effective. I found a link that claims to have the full movie on YouTube but I have not checked it myself (I own it on DvD at home), but if you are curious I high recommend it.

I did recall one video that I absolutely love. It is not a mash-up as it is just one song so I guess it's a fan vid. I'm not a particular fan of either OutKast or Peanuts but this video clip and song just work so darn well together.
