It turns out that boiled corn does taste good if it's done right, if Katte cooks it. She doesn't boil it to death; she just brings the water to a boil and that's it. Ah. I love corn.
I love staying up late too. After the barbeque at Katte's, where lots of fireworks exploded, we went to Area 51 for a few hours. I stayed in bed most of Sunday. Went to Area again for the combined birthday party that evening. GRP was fun as usual. I am so tired. I can't wait to go somewhere relaxing, like work.
So Katte and I were trying to figure out the best way to transfer music from her newly (and nicely) rebuilt computer, since my network only runs 10Mbps because I have 10-year-old cheap-ass network cables. We didn't want to yank her data drive and hook it up to my workstation, since her computer is, again, newly rebuilt, and my workstation is way too heavy to move for anything less important than a component failure. I didn't want to buy an external drive: we were shooting for cheap. Katte, genius that she is, pointed out that I could just replace the damn network cables and the files would transfer 10 times as fast.
Hey, I would have thought of it sooner or later. :)
I installed a sample antivirus app from Computer Associates the other day (complete with 1 year subscription) on my game computer. The user interface sucks, like a Windows 3.1 app, but I already knew that. What I didn't know is that the program would open the web browser once a day and beg me to buy the real version. How is it that vendors think they can win customers by pissing them off? That's would be like the music industry suing its biggest fans... oh yeah, they do that. :|
